TC Encore
I need some honest input on the TC encore ML. I thining about buying one this winter and I would like some pros and cons.

RE: TC Encore
TC stands behind their products. The Encore can be fitted with other barrels. If you are going to just get an Encore muzzleloader, and no other barrels, I think I'd just go with a lower priced Knight. Forget about 150 grains of powder. You don't need it. It's a sales job. 100 grains will take out anything out to 125 yards. Get a 50 caliber.

RE: TC Encore
I pretty much agree with 1950KID. I really like my Encore and I've never gone much over 100 grains of powder. And I only have the muzzle loading barrel. Maybe someday I will buy another, but even if I don't, I will be happy because I just love the looks and feel of that gun. Jim

RE: TC Encore
I also like the looks of the gun. I like the idea of the hammer, because it is a lot less to clean than a bolt mechanism. Has anyone had any problems with the encore. Also, how does it compare with the omega.
Thanks |
RE: TC Encore
I love my Encore 209X50. I really can't say anything bad about it. It shoots great, once I found the right bullet. It is relatively easy to clean. Hunted with it in the pouring rain, went boom no problem. I really like the feel of it and the way it shoulders. I plan on getting an '06 barrel eventually. As for the Omega, a friend of mine bought one and loves it. It is even easier to clean and has an extra 2 inches in barrel length. For just a ML, I think the Omega would be hard to beat. For the extra versatility, the Encore is hard to beat. There is my $.02.

RE: TC Encore
I have an Encore 209X50 stainless and it shoots great it has good range and easy to clean. It can be fitted with other barrels but I got mine just for the black powder and it is great you won't go wrong with it. If you do get one remember that the gun only shoots as good as the one pulling the trigger so Practice Practice Practice!!!!!and be SAFE!!!!!!!!<img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>

RE: TC Encore
One more question. Is the Encore as weathertight as the Omega?

RE: TC Encore
I have found the omega gun who makes the encore gun and where can you get either one of them.
Thanks |
RE: TC Encore
Thompson Center makes both the Encore and the Omega. IMO if you want just a muzzleloader the Omega would be a great choice and would save you some money. However, the Encore with its interchangeable barrels can be a muzzleloader one day, a flat shooting varmit rifle the next day and the next day be potent elk rifle. With the Encore your possibilities are endless.
