Optima buttstock removal - How ya do that?
 

I am going to send my Optima Pro receiver back to have them adjust the trigger pull (javelina hunt is over - got skunked - want to get this done before elk season.) I thought it would be as simple as removing the two screws in the pistol grip, and maybe a larger one inside, but there isn't a larger one in the hollow grip. Any idea how to remove it?

I would think removing the recoil pad and see if there is a bolt in the hollow stock,that how single shots guns remove the butt stock from the action

I would send it back. If you monkey around with rifles too much, some companies will void your warranty. Make them fix that rifle. The Optima Pro is a top of the line rifle and should operate as one.. Granted it will cost you a few bucks to send it in, but it will be worth it in the end.

Be sure and down load a repair form from their web site, print it out, fill it in, and then call them to talk all of this over. They will then tell you to send it to them.

You're probably right, Cayugad. I'll just send the frame/buttstock back.

My stock came loose. I ran into the same problem. Their is a bolt way up in the front. I had to modify a tool(make it longer) to tighten it up.

Yeah, RB, I finally took off my recoil pad and saw that strange "reverse nut". Think I'll be better sending it back.

i just took one apart and it is a metric allen head. i didnt have one long enough so i got mine off using a long flat head screw driver. i just made sure i was square and center inside the allen screw head and pushed down firmly while un screwing it.

If you ask the right person the right way bringing up the fact that you bought the rifle and it has a defect they will cover the shipping. In all the problems I had with my Kodiak I didn't have to pay for shipping on ANY of it. That was a stock coming to me, a stock going back, a gun going to them, and a gun coming back. They paid it all. Talk to Eric first and if he can't approve the shipping ask to speak with Mark Hendricks.

Thanks MO, I just sent it off yesterday, though. Oh well, $10 isn't bad if they set my trigger to my preferred 3.5lbs.
