Need recommendation for iron sites for Omega
 

Looks like I'll be hunting with the Omega this fall. I'm thinking about trying something a little different than the sights that came with the gun. Can anyone recommend a site that would allow a finer site picture on? I always feel like my sites pretty much cover up too much of the target at 100 yards. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

truglow ghost ring sights from cabelas. comes with your standard fibertopic sights and an optional ghost ring sight. Use the ghost ring sight, i just shot my rifle with it on and the patterns improved greatly and you will now beable to see your target clearly.

I just bought these for both a TC Flintlock 50 cal and a Knight Disc 50 cal. They are made for "old folks" who are far sighted. They are only $29. Have not shot them yet and I got the green fibre optic not the red. Red can't be seen well in dark green backgrounds and black backgrounds.

A lot depends on you, if you are young with real good eyes squared off open sights and a 6 oclock hold will do it. If you are like some of us that have 60 or more years of hunting experance behind then you will likely find that a "V" peep or Ghost Ring is best for a back sight and a miniture glowfor the front.If you use the smallest diameter glow sight and sight in at 6oclock using the top wdge as the aim point.Lee

I have the Williams rear peep and the T/C front fiberoptic bead Works well for me.

Peeps work great for us ol guys, Remember a deer or elk is a large target
so the front bead will not block out the target, try a full size elk target and you will be amzed at how well you can shoot.

Thanks for the input everyone. I have ordered a few sights to try this off season. I think the rear peep will definitely put me in the ballpark of where I need to be.
Lemoyne, could you describe the 6 o'clockhold for me? Does it involve putting the front sightslightly low on the target so youcan see the target over the top?

I like the sights that come on that gun. You could try a peep sight and see if it helps.

Really I don't think the sights get a whole lot better than those.

Thanks for all of the replies. I really liked the idea of the rear peep but I also wanted to make sure that the front site was thin enough that it wouldn't cover too much of the target. When I was searching Cabelas for the ghost ring truglow I found one called the Tru Glo Globe Site Muzzle-Brite for 50 bucks. It comes with a rear ring site and a hooded front site. I've played with combo's like this before using a front cross hair site from KNS out of Texas and the Williams peep rear site. The rear site was never tall enough so we had to have shims made for it and I just never was as happy with it as the stock sites. The front site allowed a very fine aim but the hood is about a .3 inch hood that doesn't allow enough light through to see the target. This new site addresses all of those concerns. The front globe is a barrel 7/8 of an inch outside with a 1/2 inch inside area. The front site has a dot of fiber optic cable that is wrapped inside the globe to increase brightness. The rear site is a regular ramp site that has a 1/4 inch aperture and I know that seems big but if you put it on the back of the barrel (where the original rear sight was attached)it provides a very clear picture. There are dots on each side to help level the gun. Since they sell both pieces the should (in theory) line up better than my previous attempt.
I can't wait to take this thing out (this weekend weather permitting) to see how it shoots. So far I'm excited about the prospects.
The package contained hardware and instructions for mounting this site to a traditions, knight/remington, CVA and T/C.

Looks pretty interesting. I wanted to find someone who just sells the front sight, but haven't . That would probably work well with my existing rear Williams peep.
