.504- 400gr. bullshops

I have not heard anything about this bullet has anyone tried them? Do the 460 shoot the best or work the best on game (whats the story). Any help on this would be great, I have the ultra mag on the way and I am going to order some bullets from bullshop.

When i asked Dan, Bull Shop bullet builder, about which would be better out of a fast twist the 400 or the 460 heaned to the the 460. Another one a lot of people like is the 500 grain, it is suppose to shoot real well also... to heavy for me so I will stay with the 460...

I will probably order some 400's for a 1/48 twist Hawken and see if that slow of a twist can stabilize the bullet. I think the 460 would be to long for a 1/48 twist... it would be ok short range but out around the 100 mark when the velocity slows it might loose stabilization...

Migh want to order the .5045 - the .504's are pretty loose in a White .504 barrel.

The 460 & 500 grain shoot excellent out of the Ultra Mag. For deer just 70 grains of Triple Se7en 3f and the conical and you're in business. I have not hunted anything bigger then deer, and since I also am new to this rifle, have not had the opportunity to shoot game with it. From some penetration tests with it, there will be no problem what so ever.

I personally do not feel a 500 grain is too large for deer. If the accuracy is there and you can place your shot, that conical will hit, expand, and the deer will be parked right there. Which is a very important feature where I hunt.

Next time out I am going to try some .504 Maxiball I have. They are 370 grain and I want to really push them just to see what happens..

sabotloader, While a bullet loses velocity from pushing the air in front of it, it has vary little resistance to the spin and if well stabilized to start with will stay that way through out its normal trajectory. Lee

Good to know - i have a 50 cal 1/48 renegade barrel coming and I am anxious to try some conicals in it and since I have the 460's I'll try them first....

Just so you know.. I tried some 460 gr Bull Shop in my 1-48 T/C .50 caliber Flintlock, shooting them with 70 grains of Goex 3f but did not have a lot of luck. It will be interesting to see your results. In fact I considered getting a fast twist flintlock just for shooting conicals and sabots.

I've not read any reports on that 400 grainer that I can recall. If you try them, let us know results please.

Dave I was pretty sure they would not work that well out of a 1/48, even Steve @ No Excuses would not commit to them. I think I will get some 400's from Dan and try them... I know it will shoot 320 REAL's and I think I shot some 380's...
