Anybody ever used "ballets"?
A friend gave me a box of ballets today for my 54. They are made by Buffalo...I was wondering if these would shoot very good in a 1/72 twist or if there was no use in even trying them. It is a reason to shoot so I will give em a try anyways I guess. They are 310 grain BTW. Anybody tried them?

Yes they group about 3 inches[@100yds] in my 1-66 twist Hawken using 85gr RS. Lee

They should shoot all right. All you can do is try them. With that slow twist, I would not push them too hard.

Yes they group about 3 inches[@100yds] in my 1-66 twist Hawken using 85gr RS lemoyne - I just returned from a site and it looks like the 310's are only 54 cal., biggest available for the 50cal is 270? |
RE: Anybody ever used "ballets"?
I know some guys who can get them to shoot well in slow twists. I have a box of the 54cal 310gr and they tumble in my Renegade with a 1-48" twist. I need to back of the charge to 90gr I think. I might try them in my Great Plains. I think they are a great projectile.
Good luck |
RE: Anybody ever used "ballets"?
I love the gun but I think Im gonna end up buying a faster twist GM Barrel for it so i can shoot the bigger buffalo bullets with it. Round balls only gets sorta boring.

RE: Anybody ever used "ballets"?
I've tried them several times is my Lyman 54 GPR without any luck. It could just be me, but that rifle shoots so well with a patched round ball that I really haven't felt the need to try and work a load out for them.
