![]() I believe they are called the 500 grain NEI. This is a picture of the 500 grain I shoot next to a 370 grain Maxiball. |
RE: 500 gr. Bullshop
Yep, stick to the 500 grain N373 - that's the one you want. Some of these moulds were sent to Dan by the DWBs. I had to come up with a naming scheme for the bullets in the picsso I based it upon the moulds (except for Dan's .451488 grain BS which is his own design). The specimen of the 500 grain MT NEW mould he was sent was ordered from Mountain Molds and sent directly to Dan. That mould didn't have the specs quite right and it doesn't shoot as well as the original design (by Bob Bowers). Not at all Dan's fault, just a misunderstanding of the mould parameters given to Mountain Molds. It's still a good bullet but not AS good as it might have been. The N373 shoots better for most.
I don't think any of the DWBs has any regret about sending Dan their moulds. Dan can produce the bullets at least as well as any of us might have and he does it at a great price. Our intention was that not only could we benefit from his bullet production but others would also be able to have an economical source of great conicals. Seems to be working out well for lots of folks. Just wish that 500 grain NEW mould had turned out better. That bullet is produced from correct moulds by a few of the DWBs and is one tack driving son of a gun. You might do me the favor of ignoring shots 4 and 5 in the group below ... my nerves went berserk. :D Group was fired with the correct, intended version of that bullet. ![]() The 460 grain MT NEx is also a great bullet and was my choice for a 500 bullet order. |
RE: 500 gr. Bullshop
Underclocked ... that's what happens when you just have to push the envelope. It happens to me all the time. Still, that is some real nice shooting. I think I am going to try the using the scale on a few of the next loads. I want to try some 65, 70, 75, and 80 grain loads that I will weigh out. I really think I can make that big hole you got there appear with my Ultra Mag.

RE: 500 gr. Bullshop
UC - what would your 1st choice be of the BS's for the .451?
Thanks Steve |
RE: 500 gr. Bullshop
The 465 grain MT NEW at this point. Had I got off my duff and shot those 488 grain BS - might have a different opinion. Certainly a great looking bullet and I believe it will perform very well. Bat should be trying those as soon as he gets some decent weather. If you wanted to go a bit lighter, the 420 grain L457193 shot very well for me.

RE: 500 gr. Bullshop
The 465(marked 466) worked well for me last year. Got 100 420's I haven't tried yet.
Going to do my spring order soon (3 ft of snow KILLS my outdoor ambition) and might try the 48's if they get the Bat nod. Steve |
