WHITE ULTRA MAG on layaway

Well thanks to bdeather and this web site I have founda white ultra mag and have it on layaway. bdeather found it for me thanks again. What I wanted to know is all of you who own a ultra mag seem to have had good luck with the 460gr bullshops. Is there anyone who has had better luck with another weight or bad luck with the 460's thanks

Any big conical is going to shoot good out of that rifle. I personally like the 500 grain NEI Bullshop conicals in my Ultra Mag. You have a great rifle there. I am sure you are going to be very happy with it.

The U-M is a fine rifle. The bullshop 460 is a great bullet. In my
Elk rifle 115 grains of T7 will really do the job, I know this first hand.
For a deer load I would go way down with the charge.
I always use a TOTW wad under the bullet. The no. 11 primer works very well. The 209 while shoots good will fly apart and you have to clean out the pieces. You are very fortunate to be able to find one, I personnally like the 97 U-Mbetter than the other models.

The 460s shoot just fine and are my choice. I can also tell you the 500 grainers that Cayugad likes shot well from my rifle, as did the 560 grainers. I've not tried the other .504s in his lineup.

So far my Umag seems to shoot very well with most any bullet that fits. Thinking of trying some marbles. ;)

You guys must have found a secret source. Share? :)

I would need tofind out how much shipping is I would like to be able tosell and ship to someone for around $200. Is that something anyone would be interested in let me know.

SS, that is a mighty fine price... bit low though in my opinion, especially for a .451... do some investigation first before putting a price on it.

I went to the White web site and they look like nice rifles. I honestly did not know they still were in business. Dicck's sporting goods used to carry them and I believe Roger Raglin shot them too. He is a LH shooter so I vaguely remember him w/ one...
My question is how does that rifle compare to the TC Thunkerhawk Shadow? I have one and it is a 24" barrel and a fantastic shooter. Same basic weight and you must cover the scope to keep from dusting the scope. Does the White do the same? I do remeber that that had a easy push, so they have to use special bullets?
Thanks, SHills

I talked to white rifles at there wherehouse in Lindon UT I live not to far from there and still have alot of barrels and guns mostly completed waiting on triggers. It is like a candy store in there the guy I talked to is the only one working there full time as far as I can tell. He has 3 rifles that are ready to sell but all are in .41 cal. And soon will have some 98 done when triggers show.

Trevor your welcome but I started thinking last night maybe I will go down to the gun shop where this UM is and tell them that my name is Trevor and I'm ready to take it off layaway because I dont know if two of them is enough for one person. Just joking. The gun is in excellent shape from the outside but before we put any more money down we'll take it apart and check the inside of the barrel and what not. Again I know you will be happy with the UM. PS it has the laminated stock. Cayugads favorite.

Here is something I just read and is a must read. I found out some valuable info related to many issues asked here on the forum the past couple weeks.... The douglas barrel thing makes me nervous... as well as the pressures associated in barrels!
Your thoughts?

A .410 might be an excellent caliber. Talk about a perfect deer rifle. Shoot them with around a 400 grain conical of pure lead and let that big conical do its work. Should be a good long range concial slinger. At least your talking to the factory part is a positive sounding step. Triggers from BOLD would be great.

Keep us posted on any future updates. And yes, I like that laminated stock. I wax mine down and it is beautiful.

cayugad I know you have stated before but what kind of wax and how do you go about waxing it? What are the advantages of keeping it waxed? Does it make it slippery or hard to hold on to?

I use Birchwood Casey Gun Stock Wax. I take a model builders paint brush and I paint the inside of the stock and let it set up. Then I wipe that out but am really not all that careful about getting a shine from it. On the outside of the rifle I do the same. I paint the outside, let it set up, then buff it to a high gloss. One side effect is the stock can get slippery when wet.

http://www.lymanproducts.com/pachmayr/snapcaps.htm Lyman pachmayr make a product called pac-skins that can solve the slippery stock problem. I might get some of them for my White, but so far I have always been able to hold on to it.
