TK 2000 came today.....

And it is going back already. Now keep in mind the only thing I know of these guns is wht I have heard, I have never handled one until today when I received the one I ordered. From now on I will handle a gun before I buy it. The first thing I noticed when handling it was the plastic trigger guard. I then moved the safety back and forth and saw the camo coating come off the barrel underneath it. Next I took off the barrel to further inspect it and noticed that a big peice of the camo coating was missing from the other side of the barrel.I gave those two spots a light pick with my nail and the coating came off quite easily where it had already started coming off. The rear sight was completely loose. It was in a sealed box and in sealed plastic inside the box so it doesn't seem to be a return and I didn't see any evidence of it being fired before. It might be a good shooter, but my confidence would never have been high in the workmanship of the gun. This is not an attack on Knight products, just my first impression and opinion of the TK 2000. I handled the Traditions Pursuit Pro 12ga and the workmanship on that gun was far beyond what I saw in the TK2000. So needless to say that will be the gun I am going to pruchase. Cabelas customer service was very helpful in the return, UPS will be picking everything up from my door. Here are pictures of the chipped camo coating.

This has nothing to do woth your gun, but it does pertain to Cabelas customer service.

I think they do a really good job with returns. I brought in a coat I purchased a year and a half ago with a broken zipper and they ended up giving me a new coat -because it wasnt fixedat the time they said it would be done.

I always buy from there even if it is a few bucks more because they will stand by it and now its in Omaha.

What were your impressions of the stock to barrel and hardware fit? I understand that the camo paint was not sealed or something, but other then cosmetic what else was wrong with it?

The stock was solid inside, but it only attaches with one lug and lug screw so it was loose up front. The fit between the stock and barrel was tight. I really didn't like the plastic trigger guard. I hate to sound so harsh, but overall the gun felt cheaply made. It didn't cock smooth and I really didn't like the idea of having to use those red cap holders either.

I ordered the Traditions Pursuit Pro 12ga already. It should be here in a few days.

MO, did you get those shims i sent out to you?

I enhanced those pictures of yours for a better look at the problem. I can sure see why you were upset. I would have thought that after they dipped or what ever they do to put the camo on, there would have been some kind of a sealer put over that to make sure that exact thing did not happen...

Of course, you could have simply saved some money and orders a blue/black model... :D

Yes, they came today. I sent the Kodiak back already after speaking with CVA on the phone last week. I will be installing them when I get my gun back from them. Thank you very much!!!

oldwun here... I got the shims today. I appreciate them. I will kepp u infromed once I install them. I do notice the fit of the stock to the barrel is exterely tight on my Omega. I suspect I will have to relive some of that.

I don't blame u for being dissapointed with your TK 2000. I purchased one of the from Cabelo's and mine was in good shape. I did notice the plastic trigger gaurd. Mine is an excellent shooter but if it came in the shape yours did I would have ask for a replacement or do as u did and order a different ML SG. I would be interested in how your new one patterns. I didn't buy that one because of the patterns my friend was getting with his.
Good luck.

Oh great! Hope they help gain some accuracy. I know they helped me quite a bit. If you cant run the paper between the barrel/stock due to the tight fit, just file down the spots touching the barrel. Good luck to both of you.

RE: frontier gander

I personally know one person that hunts turkey with his Knight TK2000 and he swears by it. He's a big time turkey hunt. You know, the kind that would hunt turkey over deer or anything else. He lives for it. He bought the Knight simply because he "read" you got extended range with them over a modern shotgun.

He mounted a RED DOT on his, and swears he took a bird at 41 yards and it never twitched a feather after he shot. Although like I said, I know him personally and he is known to stretch a good story. But he does shoot a lot of turkey.

As for the need for camo.. I hunted turkey for years with an old double barrel Stevens 12 gauge, with a wood stock and blue barrels. Then turkeys I shot never knew what hit them and I had them birds as close as ten feet to me. I agree camo is a good thing. I personally wear a full face cover and camo, but I noted over the years it is quick movement that gets them worried. For instance, wake up from a good sleep sometimes, and they scatter like mad... :D:D:D:D

I hope u do post the patterns u get at 30 -40 yds. I had dinner last night with a friendand he is the one with the Traditions Pro. He just ordered the TK from Cabelo's yesterday ( hope he doesn't get the one u had). He patterened both my TK and his Pro and in his test he had 25% more pellets at 30 - 40 yds with the TK. He is upposed to give me the exact pellet count. He miked the chokes and he says that is where the diff is. Of course the same test with two dif ML might be the opposite

That's ashame. You have a defect no doubt as the safty is not suppose to touch the barrel. I have an older model TK2000 camo and I don't have any paint coming off anywhere. I will post photos tonight of mine to show you what it should look like and the clearance you should have had on the safty. I don't remember mine having the plastic trigger guard which may be an update on the newer models. I'll check.

RE: TK 2000 came today.....

Here are some photos of my rig. I was able to place a nickel in between my safty and the barrel and the safty never rubs the gun barrel. All my components fit snug and nothing is loose. I even looked at my paint job and I can say there are no bubbles in the paint and it doen not come off as I tried to scape the underside of the barrel with my thumbnail. You just got abad egg that's all and I don't blame you for sending it back considering what these go for. I would still send photos or an email to Knight and see if they can explain what happened. I checked my TK and it does have a plastic trigger guard but it is thick and stout and not cheap by any means asI have dropped this gun several times before without breaking it.

RE: TK 2000 came today.....

Thanks for posting the pictures. The UPS man picked it up from my front door today and I didn't want to see it go because I have been so excited for over a week waiting for it. Now I am excited to receive it's replacement. I will let everyone know how it shoots. Hopefully it will get here Friday or Saturday and I can shoot it this weekend. I need some info on the loads. I kept the knight shot cups/wads and #4 shot that came with the order so I can use them with the other gun that is coming. How do you measure the lead shot for the cup? I know I could use another shot cup and measure with it then pour it into the cup in the barrel, but how do you know how many ounces you are putting in?

Gotbuck 02-06-2007 08:17 PM

RE: TK 2000 came today.....

Since you are spending money at Cabelas here is what I use on all my guns and arrowheads.

http://cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/links/link.jsp?id=0027404416721a&type=product&cm Cat=search&returnPage=search-results1.jsp&QueryText=digital+scale&N=488 7&Ntk=Products&Ntx=mode+matchall&Nty=1 &Ntt=digital+scale&noImage=0

The shot cup that comes with the TK will hold 2 oz of #4 which is the cup full of shot. At least that is what mine comes to anyway.
