T/C 45 cal Hawken

I have a T/C Hawken type rifle (half stock) in 45 cal. Serial # is 29xx. There are no model names (Seneca, Etc) on it. I'm told that makes it pretty old. I'm interested in getting a smooth bore barrel and a peep site for it. Anybody know about the age and availablity of barrels and sites?

The peep sight would not be a problem. Thompson Center sells a tang style peep that would fit that rifle. Because it is a .45 caliber and the model of the rifle unknown, I would not recommend a Green Mountain Barrel for it, simply because I am not sure it would even fit.. Instead I would suggest that you get a used .54 caliber Renegade. They have a 1" on the flat. Then you can get a Green Mountain Smoothbore rifle in .62 caliber and use that. Its a 20 ga.

Also welcome to the forum. Why not post a picture of the rifle if you are able. Hawkins, Renegades, and Seneca's have some definite characteristics. Perhaps we could help identity the model of it.

4 digits serial number has to be from the early 70's
I have 3 barrels that have 5 digits numbers and they are from the late 70's
check and see if you have a heart stamped on the underside of the barrel if so it is a sharon barrel

Thanks guys...there is not heart under the barrel. The barrel is 3/4s across the flats, actually a hair more. I'm going to try to post a couple of pics.

That looks like a T/C Hawkins rifle. That's an excellent rifle you have there. It is 15/16th on the flats. There is no smoothbarrel offered by Green Mountain Barrel Company for that rifle. There are some .32, .40, .50 & .54 caliber barrels that would drop in there in 1:28, 1:48& 1:70 twists depending on what projectile you wanted to shoot.
