Shot yesterday

I went out and shot yesterday. Kare said I was crazy as it was 16F with a wind chill of -2F. Was 22F and 4F wind chill when I got back in.
No groups to brag about, fact is was frustating. I did the first load upin the house then walked out to the range.
Did that shot then opened my shooting box so I could open a new box of HP XTP's which they were not.

I don't have the slightest idea as to what they are but they were, the right size so decided to go ahead and shoot them, price was the same as the XTP's I buy.Yes when I got back in I looked on Hornadays site and they don't have them listed there. I think they are for the Metal shooters? maybe.

They loaded hard in the green MMP sabots for the 50cal. So hard I shot up some of my horded Noslers. Then I remembered Mike saying to roll them on the tongue, so I tried that and they did load better. I even tried some pink T/C break away sabots but they loaded hard too.
I really think the cold has some to do with the hard loading as the imprint on the shot sabots I picked up wasn't as great as normal.

This is a small propane tank I shot. Normal entrance hole but an impressive exit hole on such a thin tank. Much bigger than I would have thought.

This one went thru the tire first.

Think I will see if I can reduce the rabbit poplaution some with this load. Maybe I can get an Idea how they work on thin skined animals.

The look a lot different than the XTP Mags that I am shooting. These look stouter and from the looks of the holes in the tank, the rabbits better watch out, if they are sitting. Best wishes. Chap Gleason

That is the same kind of head you have on a Saber Tooth conical. Are those made for shooting steel silhouette?

I thought they were for metal shooters. I think they expand rather well, but will test some more.
to bad the sand is froze so I can't sift it. One other thing. I was shooting my T/C plains rifle and the trigger was horriable. Over 6 poundswhen I checked it after I got back. It isn't normally that stiff. Bet when I pull the lock it is full of grease.

My XTP's load harder in the cold--I don't know the reason exactly. Those are interesting bullets. I've never seen them before.
