Sabots.... who's are they?

Does anyone here know how many ML sabot manufacturers there are and who they are? I have some black sabots that came with some cheap 310 gr. Knight all lead HP's, but if I want to get more of them I don't know how I would. I doubt Knight makes them or the leads. Is there a "master" sabot chart available which gives color, dimensions, # petals, description of cup shape, bullet diameter etc... If not, would't that be useful?

Sabotloader, you don't wear that name for nothing. What's out there?

Just returned from the MMP site and it's very good. A site like theirs with all sabot makers would be great.

Knight did and I think still does make sabots (some sabots). Usually Knight sabot had a smooth cup and a wide space between petals. Harvesters and MMP usually have a very tight space petal to petal.

I honestly do not knowhow many companies make sabots....

Sabotloader,

I doubt Knight actually makes many of the things it sells. I suspect most of what wears the name is made by someone else. I would not be surprised if MMP made the sabots Knight sells. I don't know. Knight, A Division of Modern Muzzleloader Industries, is a subsidiary of ENSCO industries. Who knows what is made by whom? I don't much care unless, as in this case, I'd like to find the sabots w/o the bullets!

Yeoman, I don't if this is what you're asking, color code tells you for what caliber and bullet size. Scroll down to color code.

I know Knight use to make their own sabots, in fact one time talking to Del he indicated that he bought Knights, .458 sabot dyes and equipment.

At onetime I believe Knight supplied Hornady with their sabots also.

They, the different companies, are a little closer to providing a uniform color for a certain caliber but you still can not always be sure and then there is MMP that makes 3 different 50 cal black sabots for .451/452 bullets.

MMP makes Knights. The other company is Harvester. I think Hornady makes some also but I am not sure on this.

I agree today, but in the past Knightmade sabots. As i saidearlier Del once told me that he bought his .458 machine from Knight. I do have some old Knight sabots and they are certainly different than either Harvester or MMP, but the possibility exsits that they were Hornady - but i actually did not know that Hornady actually made their own.

I thought PR bullet was using another totally different manufacturer to make their boat tail sabots....

Del told me last year that the green hornaday sabots were the same as the MMP greenm sabots for the 50 call as MMP makes them.
There is a post on Modern Muzzle loading about it.

RE: Sabots.... who's are they?

From the combination of above posts, I would guess MMP makes them for MMP, Knight and Hornady, at present, and Harvester makes their own.

Getting them from one of those sources should simplify life.... for now

Thanks.
