300 gr Speer Gold Dots

I ordered a couple of boxes today at my local gun shop. They seem to be well thought of by some on this forum. My question to u that r using them is do u use the MMP HHP 24 sabots when loading them. Most of my shots on deer are under 100 yds and these babies look like they pack a whallop!

I shoot them and some other weight Gold Dots in all my inline rifles (so far just for fun). The sabot I use depends on the rifle I am shooting. My T/C Black Diamond XR does not seem too fussy. My Knight Disc needs the MMP HPH-24.

Good luck with them and keep us posted.

I use them in HPH-24's for all rifles but the White then I have to switch to a HPH-12....

Did you see those pictures of expanded Gold Dots thatI posted several weeks back? From all the reports they are woking great... I call them a "poor man's Nosler." They will not penetrate as deep because they open fully quicker than the Nosler but do they make a whole on the way trough...

Yes I saw those bullets. They looked like they could put a hurt on u. I may get to shoot some hogs next month. If I do get to go I think I will try the Speers.

Nope, I use Harvester Crushed rib sabot, from MidSouth Shooters Supply for $4.99 for 50. They go down easy in my TC Hawken 1:48 twist and shoot great at 50. Cabela's is a couple of buck higher for the same package of 50. Chap Gleason Va

I certainly was planning and I actually will but it will be later... I still have two boxes of Nosler's left - although if I get a second deer tag this year I will....

gleason.chapmandid use them them from his flint lock and scored a deer down south someplace.

I THINK Lee used them with success this year also - not sure though.

I got a big doe in FL season with the Speer Gold Dot, 300g, it expanded beautifully and lost very little weight. I was impressed. I am planning on working up loads for all my guns this winter before hot weather. I like they way they hold together. The deer I got with a FL was in Penna, but I live in Va now. Chap Gleason VA

But the bullet didnt offer an exit wound. I dunno, i like bullets that provide an enterance and exit hole.
