Fouling shot for powerbelts
 

I just switched to 245 powerbelts for my .50 DISC rifle. Using two 50 gr pellets, I get great 100 yard groups. However, my first shot after cleaning is much worse than any previous bullets I have tried, almost a foot low. After that I get a very satisfactory 3" avg. group. I have always believed in fouling shots but I have never seen such bad first shots. I can actually feel the difference in recoil as well. I am sure this all has something to do with the smaller diameter of the powerbelts but I am concerned that something else may be wrong. Has anyone else had similar experiences? Should I even be concerned?

I have a couple of rifles that need a fouling shot with Power Belts, but not all of them do. I am not sure why this is. But even these don't put the first shot from a clean barrel that far out of the group-not enough to miss a deer @ 100 yards!!!

Keep yore powder dry!!

I would have to venture a guess that part of this problem is related to the actual bore diameter of each individual gun. I figure that on a slightly larger bore (even .001"), the fouling could make a noticeable difference. And when using under-bore bullets like PowerBelts, this difference would be magnified. My Knight likes a fouling shot too, but it is rarely more than 2-3" off from the fouled shots. And Knight's seem to have slightly tighter bores.
