Default Black Diamond XR load for coyote

I can use your opinion of a good coyote load for my Black Diamond XR. I don't have the luxury of buying several bullet types and brands so I'm trying to narrow down the field as much as possible.

I've spotted them as close as 50 yards and as far out to 200 yards. I'd like to drop them hard and could use a proven bullet/powder combination. I realize they don't really need a 50 caliber slug to give up the ghost but I shot a big onewith a 17 HMR and it didn't even break his stride. Something fairly flat shooting, if there is such a thing. I have 777 and Pyro available.

Thanks much for your input.

Now I like you enjoy hunting, and if I were going after a yote with a 50 cal muzleloader - there is no doubt I would go with a 10mm 200 grain bullet. I am also so cheap - so I can not see myself buying Shockwaves or SST's, but I can see spending 12/14 bucks for 100 - 200 grain XTP's. and 12/15 more for a 100 sabots.... That bullet will turn a yote inside out...

I am using 110 grains of T7-2f behind mine - I think Cayugad has shot the same load from his XR.

It is certainly no .17HMR for ballistics but the energy is a ton more... Question, have you tried the 20 grain bullets yet - they are really decent on yotes....

Here is a ballistic chart for the 200 XTP fired across my chrono...

A coyote is a thin skinned animal I would just go for the most accurate load your .50 shoots. Anything out of a .50cal will kill the little devils.

200 or 250 grain Shockwaves with 100 grains of T-7 should be accurate and kill any coyote they come into contact with. I have not shot the 200 grain XTP's yet at distance.

I would go with the 50/40 200gr anda heavy load as much the gun will shoot accurate also it has been my experance that for 175 yds the 40 cal. 200gr XTP is much cheaper and shoot as good up to 175yds. especally Over 200yds it drops enough more to make small targets harder to hit. For close shots a lead bullet and what ever sabot fits your gun best[Like in brush where you can not see far. If you will be shooting really long range it is like Cayquad said you cant beat a SW but they are not cheap.Lee

Any preference for the type or manufacturer of sabots to use with these?
