Some recovered Hornadays from back stop.
Here are some Hornaday HP XTP's I recovered from my range back stop. they can be either the 230gr. .451 shot from my 54calor the 240gr.429 shot from my 50 cal.
The back stop, a stack of 15" steel belted car tires filled with red sand. ![]() Recovered bullets. Not knowing which ones they were for sure I havn't weighed them. Of course the weight test is not accurite unless you knew the weight before the bullet was shot as they DO vary in weight from the box by as much as 5gr. give or take. They traveled thru the steel belts, and about 16 inches of frozen sand. ![]() These are the sabots and bullets also the front view of the expention. I have not shot the Knight sabot yet as my range has bee under water for several weeks. I don't really want to pratice shooting from a canoe :D:D. ![]() ![]() :) Al |

Have you got any Gold Dots yet? If so it would be interesting to see them shot in the same experiment... I would like to send you some 200XTP's and have you shoot them into the back stop also.. .what do you think? |
RE: Some recovered Hornadays from back stop.
Mike I have a job that is going to take about a week so I won't be shooting anything.
After that I'll shoot some of the gold dots I have, even if I have to use the canoe :D:D. I think,I really should find a new location for my back stop. I'll also pick up some 200 XTP's of what ever cal dia ? you want me to try. That Remington with the Swift on your deck looks real good. Of course I am bias:D. :)Al |

Oh boy... a canoe shoot!!! :D Sounds like fun.
That is some real interesting bullets you recovered. I used to shoot into tires filled with sand. It really works well as a back stop. |

RE: Some recovered Hornadays from back stop.
As you can see from the picture of the back stop there is frozen over water there all ready. With the record rain fall we have had every month since and including Sept when it started every thing floods real easy. The ground just can't hold any more, It sprinkles for half an hour and the creek is over the banks.
Ok 40 cal 10mm 200gr. XTP's for the 50cal. That should prove a fast mover. :)Al |

Ya know thats the first shooting range I have seen that is fitting enough to make a Christmas card out of!
