The good ole White

Its been along time since I have posted. I have been doing some catch up reading and Its funny how there are alot of posts about which gun is the best. For you that remember I own the Black Diamond, the Omega, the Optima, the Apex and two Whites Ultra Mag 97 one in a Laminated and one in a synthetic stock. I like every one of these guns. But there are a few things about each one that I dislike. Now I'm not trying to start a argument here but of all these guns In my opinion and I shoot 2-3 times a week I enjoy the Whites by far. Let me explain, as you know these guns shoot conicals better than any muzzleloader on the market today but they also shoot sabots with extreme accuracy as many on here will testify to. They are a bit overbored so I have not had a problem with any sabot I have tried. This year I killed a antelope, a mule deer, and a nice bull elk with my synthetic 97 and were harvested with the same bullet. The bullet was the bullshop 460grn pure lead with 20grns corn meal and 80grns of pyrodex P powder. The caps were the remington number 11's. I read alot of different forums and the one thing I've noticed is that the people who owns the Whites love them and I've read only about 4-5 negative things about them. Like cayugad said If I would have known about these guns long ago I would have saved alot of money. P.S. to Roskoe I think the pure lead bullets 460-500grn are the most lethal muzzleloader bullets you can shoot. Just my observation and opinion. Everybody keep posting.

cascadedad,

I noticed one of those tripletts is trying to stand out from the other two. I think you should send the one with the strap to me for proper training in how not to show up the others. I will take good care of it and make sure it gets fed properly and regularly.:D

I placed my first order with Bullshop the other day, ordered 200 bullets, he will size them to my specs and it only cost $50.60 which included shipping and insurance. At those prices I might give up sabots and go shooting more.:)

dmurphy317, sorry, you picked the wrong one, that one is MINE.:)

I bought two of them, one for me and one for my son. Later, got one for my Dad, so only two remain in my gun safe.

I was sold on them after the first time I shot Sabotloader's U-M. We were short on time that day. I think the target was about 75 yards or so and were shooting off the hood of my Suburban. SL shot one shot. He had my 13 y.o. son load it and shoot the next shot. It was about an inch to the right if I remember right. He then had my son load it again, and I shot. My shot overlapped SL's. I will try to post a pictureof that target later. We were done and I was on the phone to Sportsman's WH to locate a couple.

Did someone say something about plastic?;)

Now I know some of you fellows like them black synthetic stocks on those fancy White Rifles, but I will take my Laminated stock any day of the week. And as said, they sure are a shooting machine.

If it's rainin' - get a grip Dave. ;)

Okay, my full muzzie stable - only the scope on the Huntsman is different from as pictured. Rifles are not to scale.

The ol' White 98 .451 in this pic shoots so dern good it bores me. :D

yabut! Dave admit it way down deep you wouldreally like to have the Rocky Mnt. Camo - Autum Aspem stock like I have. It is much better than those Black Synthetic, itis UNIQUE, ya know one of a kind, and it really makes the UMag a lot more accurate....actually I bet all of you would like to have it?????

Doc tells me not to lay it down in the woods, he says "I'll never find it"

Mikeyou know you're right of course. I never thought of it but.. when my niece visited over the holiday, she's quite the little artist. I should have had her paint my laminated stock. Of course she only paints Scooby Doo most of the time. Might have looked nice come to think of it. But, if I ever set the rifle down on a comic book I'd of never found it again.

Dave, maybe you could get my niece Cindi to paint it. She and her sis are both pretty good. Cindi did the saw shown below for me. The girl can paint on anything so far as I can tell. The framed leaf is a real leaf.

I got a couple of them two man cross cut saws the old loggers used to use. That's what people like to paint around here. They take them back to bare metal and then paint them up and hang them in rich people's homes.

That person has TALENT - those are beautiful - send them to Outdoor Life or some other magazine they would grab them up in a hurry. Actually Sportsmans Surplus has those kind of art pics for sale for a real heffty price....

I've been thinking of getting those pachmayr grips that I think Underclock posted. Although when I hunted this deer season with my White, in the snow, I never had a problem holding on to it with the moisture around. Although I think they might actually look nice on that laminated stock.
