Omega and XTP

I have yet to try these bullets but the reviews seem to say it is a great bullet. Do you use the sabots that come with the xtp or do you the HPH24 sabots?

oldwun..

that will depend on your rifle. In one rifle of mine being a Knight, I use the sabots that came with the Hornady XTP's. In my Black Diamond XR the fit is too tight so I switch over toa HPH-24 or a Crushed Rib sabot.

Sticking a suggestion in here that may not be wanted... just ignore it if it is no help....

I usually is less expensive to purchase bullets (XTP's) in a reloading box of 100 ea. or 50 ea.(for the heavier bullets) then purchase the sabot you need.

If it not to late youmight want to look a Speer Gold Dots vs the XTP's the Gold Dots are bonded and the expansion is controlled to a point in the bullet. I call them a "poor man's Nosler." Excellent mushroom capabilities and you can not shoot the lead out of the copper as you can an XTP....

I use them quite a bit and am happy with the results. In my Omega they shoot real well with the MMP-HPH24 sabot which loads easy and shoots good and I buy the bullets in boxs of 100 this saves quite a bit of money over a years time for some one who may burn 20 or 25 pounds of powder a year. Lee

I will look into getting some GD 300. If I understand correctly that is the bullet for the 454 Casull. Thanks for the info.

I just shot my new Omega with 300 grain XTP's and can get 2 inch groups at 50 and 100 yards. They should perform great in yours as well!
