WOW! Much Better Groups
WellI had been shooting 100 grs of 777 pellets and 250 gr Hornady SST's out of my T/C Omega and getting ehhh, just okay groups. Well today I tried 120 grs of loose pyrodex powder and a 240 gr Hornady XTP. WOW! What a difference. Here is my first three shots from 100 yards below. I think I can live with groups like that from a muzzleloader. LOL! The added benefit is also that the pyrodex powder and the XTP's are much cheaper to boot. Now please tell me that these XTP's will do well on deer.

[/align]Thats a great group. Don't know about that bullet but I'm sure someone on here will. Thats what makes this forum great. |
RE: WOW! Much Better Groups
Great group. Really awesome. Did you mean XTP? Anyway, I don't think it matters what the bullet is when you are printing them like that. That kind of precision and accuracy equalls dead deer.

Good shooting, in my experance Pyrodex is always the most consistant especally when you are dealing with a wide range of weather and temp. Lee

RE: WOW! Much Better Groups
I was always under the impression that a Shockwave or SST was simply an XTP with a plastic tip.

RE: WOW! Much Better Groups
The XTP with the plastic tip are called the PTX. Pretty good shooter actually. I still have a couple boxes of them laying around. Since I could buy them in bulk and not the Shockwaves.
120 grains and that XTP and the way that rifle is shooting... a deer better stay well over 200 yards away from you. With practice, that is an easy 150 yard rifle shooter and even more if you have skills. Excellent shooting and a great load with an outstanding rifle.. I guess you have it made. Now when does deer season start? :D:D:D |
RE: WOW! Much Better Groups
Awesome group!!! I like the XTP's as well. They have a nice price tag in my opinion too.
