There are a lot of new rifles out there for little more then $100.00. Then there are auction sites that can be used and you can still get a quality used rifle for about the same kind of money. For instance,

http://www.auctionarms.com/search/di...762775&aa= older knight mk 85 .50 cal in excellent shape. This is a Knight MK-85 . While it is older technology, anyone with one will tell you these rifles are real shooters. These were the rifles that kind of snowballed the whole inline craze. Then there are other rifles like the Wolverine, Bighorn, all of them on auction sites where you get the Knight quaility of Green Mountain Barrels, Timney triggers, and customer support. I shoot a Wolverine with the 22" barrel, but it would handle anything Wisconsin wants to throw at us.

Or you can get a CVA Wolf, Traditions Yukon, or one of then other less costly inline rifles.

I should add.. I have heard of the Rossi but never handled one or shot one. I am sure they would be a good entry level rifle.

Here is a entry level rifle for those that are just getting started.

That USA American looks like a nice little rifle. Wisconsin does not allow scopes, so that short barrel rifle will do the job all day out to the ranges we shoot at here. Even if a person threw a 1X Thompson Center Hawkins scope on the thing. It should be a great shooter out to 100 yards.

I hunt with my Wolverine Lk-II which is basically the same rifle. 85 grains of powder and a 240 grain XTP and I would dare any whitetail to come within 100 yards of me.

I bought my son a youth Rossi 50 cal. a couple of years ago because it was the only youth black powder gun I could get at the time. The first bullet/powder combination we used produced a 1" group at 100 yards. This was a 3 shot group, I shot the first two and my son shot the third. I was extremely impressed with this little gun. It continues to shoot just as well as my Knight's and is very easy to clean. I would recommend that gun to anyone. Good luck with whatever you get.
