Any BP shotguners?
I am really thinking about getting into this for birds and turkey. I do not want a in line. What is a good precusion style shotgun that isnt going to break the bank.

RE: Any BP shotguners?
Well the problem is most any black powder smoothbore will cost some serious money. Even the inline rifles will push the $300.00 limit. Cabela's sells double for over $600 and you can get some old style barrels that will fit other rifles but again, you are going to spend some serious money. Perhaps look for a large bore musket. You can shoot shot out of them if you want. Be advised some of the older muskets that did shoot shot, do not have a lot of range. If you want black powder with range, you want to look at the Knight TK2000 or the White Tomanator.

i want to be a flintlock shotgunner! when money permits im ordering a 62 or 75 caliber smoother bore flintlock...mainly for turkey hunting..but ill definently give small game a try...and if it shoots RBs decint i may even send one of them giant roundballs in the direction of a very unlucky deer...man...a 3/4 inch lead ball whacking you in the chest...cant wait...i want to order it soon because itll take a year or so to finish...
cayugad...did you order from Early Rustic yet?? i know you were thinking about it...curious if you did yet and if you got your rifle. being in college stinks! one minute i have the money...the next its in someone elses hands....still planning to order sooner or later... |
RE: Any BP shotguners?
No.. I have not decided what lock or barrel make I want. I am leaning towards a Seiler lock and a Colerian barrel, maybe swamped. I would like it 1-80 or better in the twist and .62 caliber in size with at least 38-42 length. That should take care of business.
After the first of the year I will decide one way or the other. After paying all the taxes that is..[&o] |
RE: Any BP shotguners?
![]() there is a picture of my shotgun. It is a .62 caliber smoothbore GMB on a Renegade frame. I was testing roundball penetration that day by shooting length ways through the chunk of firewood. The ball after passing through the wood hit the back of my steel bullet trap and flattened out. I thought that was kind of neat to see. |
