green mt. barrel for Renegade: Size?

I know this was discussed not too long ago, but can't find the thread. Which size of Green mountain barrel do you order for a Renegade, the 15/16 or 1". Thanks

Also, for anyone who has done it, do you recommend the 21" barrel or the 28"

Also, does it come with aramrod when ordered from Cabelas?

thanks

1" is what I always ordered for my Renegades. And yes you get a really good ramrod from Green Mountain actually.

Thanks, I was pretty sure it was a 1", but couldn't remember for sure.

The normal Renegade barrel is 1" flat to flat as Cayugad indicates and it is 27" long with the breech plug...

The 28" GM replacement would be my choice over the 21" - what twist rate are you looking to get... the 1/48 standard or the 1/28 long range hunter?

Was looking at the 1 in 28, but want to mainly shoot conicals through it. Kicker is that the 1 in 28 is what Cabelas sells and I can get that one free with Cabelas points. Most people seem to think it shoots conicals well. I have seen a 1 in 70 and a 1 in 28, but haven't seen the 1 in 48. Where do you see them?

The 1:28 is a real good sabot shooter. I shoot 100 grains of Triple Se7en and a 300 grain Hornady XTP with outstanding results. It will also shoot some maxiball real well.

The 1:70 is an excellent roundball shooter. And because of the slow twist, you can really put some powder under that ball. I like the big bore, but you seem to have it made with your points.

I would get the 28" barrel unless of course you wanted a stalking rifle or tree rifle, then the 21" would be real good. Although I have never shot one of them.

I can not believe that Green Mountain doesn't have any 1/48's right now nor does Track of the Wolf... Fox Ridge Outfitters has both a real renegade barrel and a hawken barrel in 1/48

Not sure the 1/48 is the best barrel twist for you I was just commenting on whether you were going to replace your orginal barrel or to one of the new lang range hunter barrels...
