scope question
 

HI.... im wanting to get a scope for my muzzleloader and i was wondering is therea difference between a rifle scope and a scope that says its for a muzzleloader. I want to get a 3-9x40 scope, do i need one thats says for a muzzleloader.thanks

a muzzleloader scope and a rifle scope are basically the same thing. The thing you need to keep in mind is eye relief and I like to keep the scope short, so I do not have to remove the sights on the rifle.

As to some good scopes in 3-9x40 would depend on what you want to spend. I like around a 4" eye relief. I also like the short scopes around 11-1/2 inches. I personally like the Nikon Pro Sport but I use the 2-7x32mm and have been real impressed with it.

rifle, shotgun, and muzzleloader scopes are all in the same class. I think a lot of companies advertize a "muzzleloader scope." Now there are some scopes that really are set up for muzzleloaders, but again.. any of them will work. I have Millet Bucks, Bushnell, and Sightrons also on rifles and they all shoot well...

Major difference is where the parallax is set. On rimfire, shotgun,and ML scopes the parallax is set at a shorter distance. Tom.
