Default Jim Shocky's new powder????

Has anyone tried it and what do you think?

Does anyone have any loading data or is it the same as Pyrodex?

I have been using Pyrodex pelletsand my hunting buddies were using Triple 7. Both are very dirty and make it a real chore to clean the smoke pole.

Thanks,

Dave

Muskyhunter1its just a special screening of APP which is a couple dollars a can cheaper, some like it I get tighter groups with APP FF. Some like the FFF too again my Omega gets much better groups with FF, but part of the reason is I like to load for about 2,000 fps and FFF is better for light loads and heavy bullets I know that sounds like a contradition in terms but thats the way it has worked for me. You might search through the archives to back in late September of this year. I did a bunch of playing around with both the ffg and fffg. Using sabots and the new Platinum Powerbelts, I had better luck with the ffg. It burns real clean and gives great speed. I got quite a bit more speed out of 130 grains of ffg JSG than I did out of 150 grains of loose Pyrodex RS - with same bullet of course. The bullet was a 250 grain Shockwave and the JSG load produced about 2300 fps. Grouped well to boot.

One thing about this powder - start with a clean dry barrel. Do not swab or lube or anything else between shots. Just load it and shoot it. My gun needs a fouling shot or two to "settle in" - from there it prints with alarming consistency. And it is my understanding that you can leave the barrel fouled for awhile without ill effect. So the plan is to shoot the rifle shortly before season, confirm the zero, and leave it fouled through the end of the season.

I had about 6 inch groups at 50 yds. I called and sent emails and finally got some rep. out of Oklahoma call me and say it was my cleaning techniquies and the Powerbelts I was using. I have most of a can of the Clean Shot stuff left. Want to trade?

I would trade but I am a little too far off the grid from us to connect- thanks. I shoot powerbelts tooand found that are really accurate out of my gun (TC Black Diamond). I shot two deer this fall with348 grain Powerbelts with 100 gains of Pyrodex. They really expand though but I hadcomplete pass throughs.

Maybe shocky's powder doesn't work withPowerbelts. What aboutanother bullet.

I tried the JSG 3f in my Omega, with three different bullets and couldn't get very good accuracy with any of them. May just be my gun but it doesn't even come close to 777 in accoracy or power, but it is much cleaner.
