You'd have to try them out of your rifle to really know, but both of them shoot real good out of my Black Diamond XR. As for knock down ability, I can't help you there.

Well,
My experience with them probably really isn't indicative as to their potential.

Last year after the season was over and during the wallyworld closeouts, I picked up a box of the 200s planning to give them a try. I have had excellent results from the 250s and thought the 200s would really give me another 50 yards ballistically. I was hoping to develop a load similar to the ballistics with my 250 grainers and 110 grains of 777. Was figuring that I might be able to get a load that would be a couple of inches high at 150 and 7 inches or so low at 250. I still think it is possible.

About a month before the season, I shot maybe 6 or 7 200 grain sabotsthrough my Encore with 125 grains of loose 777. Accuracy was not what I expected at 100 yards so I didn't really play with it anymore. Loose 4 to 5 inch groups at 100 yards. I suspect I was driving them too hard, could have been due to the warm weather as well. Anyway, I took them home and put them in the closet thinking I would play with them again later. Next time I went to the range, I shot a string with my normal 250 grain shockwaves with the 125 grain load. While the results were better, they still weren't where I had been for the past couple of years with 110 grains of 777 loose, an inch to an inch and a half or so groups at 100 yards. So, I figured that 125 grains of 777 might just be too much and would have to start back at my base load that is tried and true.

That said, both these shooting sessions were in September and October which can be downright warm in Mississippi, usually in the high 70s and 80s. Not exactly optimal for testing w/ sabots and BP subs.

Then, season started and I haven't had the time to play with the 200s again. I do have them in my truck though and maybe one day this week at lunch I'll shoot a string with 110 grains of 777 and see what it gives.

Someone else and some other gun may have had much better luck than me.

RE: T/C ShockWave Sabots 200gr. vs. 250gr.

I've tried about every load of 777 in my Prohunter that I can load. For accuracy I use 110grs. 7772F,and a 250gr. SW. For hunting I shoot 120grs.777,and a 250 SW,or SST The 120gr. load gives me a little more power,at the expense of around 1/2 inch bigger groups at 100yds. Actually 115grs. is about the best overall load in my gun. It dosen't like anything over 120grs. though, the accuracy really goes down hill from there. I haven't tried the three pellet load (3 50gr. pellets) yet but intend to,after the first of the year when I can get to the range more.

Well I shoot both 250 and 200 , but out of diferent guns . In my Omega 50cal. the load is 110gr 777 ff and I get very good groups ( 1" ) at 100 yards , I have shoot several 200's with the same laod and had good groups but I have not shoot that many of them . In my 209x45 Encore I shoot 100gr. 777 fff with the 200gr shockwave and get 1" groups at 100 yards. Hope this will help .

I have shot both the 200 and 250 grain shockwaves out of my Encore. The 200's are more accurate and I get clover leafs at 100 yardds off of a bench. I put them in front of 130 grains of Pyrodex pellets. The 250 grain Shockwaves gave me 1-1/2" groups at 100 with 100 grains of pellets which is still very acceptable. I just feel that the 200 grain SW give me a liittle more distance.

As far as performance, I can't really say. I haven't used the 250 grain Shockwaves hunting and the only deer I shot with the 200 grain was within 30 yards so it basically went straight through. She didn't go very far.

You will just have to try different loads to find what your ML likes.

I use the 200's. I have an optima, 105 grains pyro. This year I shot a 200lb(live weight) buck at 120 yrds. He was 1/4 too a little bit. I put it in the point of the shoulder. The bullet did a complete pass thru. He went about 30 yrds. The exit hole was incredible. I also shot a small doe. It was a down angle shot at 80 yrds. Entrance was the edge of the spine. with the exit at the off shoulder. Again a great big hole upon exit.

My dad shoots the 250. He had about the same performance on the doe he shot.

RE: T/C ShockWave Sabots 200gr. vs. 250gr.

I tried shooting the 200s again this morning.
Used 110 grains of 777 loose. The groups were sorry to say the least. In my gun anyway, I think I would need 100 grains, or less, of 777 for them to work well.

Shot four rounds at 100 yards. 3 of them were in about a 6 inch circle, I don't even know where the fourth one went.

Then, loaded and shot two 250 grainers w/ 110 grains of 777. Exactly 3 inches high and almost touching. Perfect for my gun.

I have a Nikon 4 to 14 power scope and where the crosshair narrows down to the finer cross hair in the center is exactly 3 inches at 100 yards at 14 power. So, at 100 yards or less, the bullet will hit between these two points. At 150, the bullet will hit at the crosshairs and at 200 it hits about double the distance from the crosshair to where the element gets thicker again. Who needs one of those fancy BDCs!!!!

I still do want to find a combo w/ a 200 grain bullet that will work. Maybe a different sabot or bullet/sabot mix.

In my Omega, the 250 likes 105-110 grains..... the 200 likes 95 grains. When sightedfor 3" high at 100, I'm usually 8-10" low at 200.
