flintlock suggestions
 

well its gettin 2 be that time of the yar again. flintlock season is comin up and i want to get prepaired....i want my own flintlockthis year....i been usin an old kentucky long rifle but its not mine and the owner decided to go out this year so im on my own...and suggestions on one? i dont want to spend a ton..maybe like $200.

i have a traditions deer hunter, its light shoots decent and is cheap. there are def. better guns out there but for the price i like this one. also if you are getting one for this season i'd get in as much practice in as you can

i have a traditions pa pellet and its very accurate with the sabots and goes off fast, hardly any delay.
there priced nice too.

deerslayer......are you sure thats an inline? it looked like it had a plain hammer like a traditional muzzleloader.

no no thats not an inline....that is a flinlock..im just saying the inlines are soooo nice...but the link was to the flintlock i wanna buy....i just cant decide....is it worth the extra money to get the one that has a removeable breech plug?

get the breech plug model you wont regret it.
they are a 1000 times faster to clean and u can clean it spotless.

If all you have is $200.00 you are going to have to look on auction boards. If you can add another $100.00 to that then get a .54 caliber Lyman Trade Rifle from D&R Sports. Net. The Trade rifle is a quality shooter, fast lock, well built, well balanced, and shoots a lot of different things because of the 1:48 twist.

Be careful getting a cheap flintlock. As any old rock lock shooters will tell you, the lock is the most important. Some of the cheap rifles have a slow lock which produces short sparks, slow lock time, and that equals flinches. The Trade Rifle I have has an excellent lock and with a sharp flint will compete with any percussion cap rifle for speed of ignition. It is one of the better mass produced flintlocks for a reasonable price.

Consider the fact that some of the top quality locks along can run you between $100-$200 for just the lock. The a quality barrel, and well fitting stock.. well you get the picture.
