RE: Dad's thinking about a Muzzleloader

I tried some 385 grain Buffalo Bullet Conicals. In fact I bought a entire case of them thinking they would shoot well out of most of my .50 caliber inlines and traditional rifles. They have to be the worst shooting conical I have ever came across. I am almost to the point of next time I cast bullets I will melt them down and make them into roundball.

I remember now. I noticed that my BB 410's did not perform as well in the accuracy dept as the 385 GPs. But I did get them to group 1 3/8 to 1 5/8" at 50 yards (open sights). What surprised me about the BB 410s was there superior velocity to the 385 GPs with 70 grain BP. Velocities averaged over 1450. Within 75 yards I like the BB 410for sheer energy but I don't feel comfortable with them beyond that range for accuracy.

Particularly, I was interested in your success (or lack of) using CVA 300 buckslayers in the White. They hated my sidekick (and did well in my hawken).

How many do you have? They shoot fine out of my winchester and are cheap enough to blow off for practice. Interested in selling them?

I bought 36 boxes with 20 in a box. The shipping was murder. I still have probably 30 packs without really counting them.

My dad is thinking about getting a Muzzleloader. I shoot traditionals but he want's an inline so I do not know much about them. What would you suggest for around 400 or less. Here in Colorado no scopes, sabots, pellets. I think a White would be good since they seem to shoot conicals really good.

Thanks
Good thinking! White rifles are very well made. Their bullets work well, also.
