Thompson Contender... G2 or Encore

I'm a Blackpowder shooter in Australia and I use a Ruger Old Army .44 to shoot 50 meter bullseye targets, could someone add vise me which one of the two Thompsons would be the better for 50 meter target shooting. I'm looking at using a .32 or .38 for the event. We have some guys here using both rounds, but in guns that are about 8 to 10 years plus old. Any help or info is good help.

Regards
Cashye:)

If you are talking muzzleloader the 50 is best .If you are talking cartridge the 44 mag is far and away the best as they are the ouly inherantly accurate one widely available. If you must choose between 32 and 38 a lot depends on the distance and such normally the 38 would be best.I use a contender 44Mag for long range target and some deer hunting also wild boar when its not practical to use a muzzleloader. I believe that the Encore has the stronger action my contender predates the Encore if I was buying now I would get the Encore. Lee

In that case a 50 cal renagade will do nicely,it is my experance that the smaller calibers get powder residue accumalation faster and a 50 will carry accuratly for a 100 yds which I believe is about 140m if you intend to shoot longer distance than that consider a 54cal. The larger a round ball the better the sectional density so for better range and wind resistance for anyting over 50 m I would consider a bigger cal. Lee
