New Omega scope

Is the it worth the extra price fot BDC really seems like the omega scope is basically a shortend version of the buckmaster, for me personally my thinking those dots really dont serve well as they are only good for there set ranges other than that you still have to hold over or under, I shoot alot at the range I I know my gun and load range I like less clutter as possible the only thing that attracts me is the 5inch eye relief but the only one that comes with nikoplex reticle is black only and I wanted camo is it worth the inch or so more of eye relief or should I just get the buckmaster??

That would depend on the kind of shooting your going to experience. I personally do not think the BDC is worth it. I have a Redfield in an 7mm mag with that and have NEVER used it. If your ranges are all under 150 yards then I would not personally worry about the BDC. Just practice a little more and get the kind and color scope you want.

For me personally I really do like the "dots" - I would never think the BDC would be accurate as advertised - but with shooting you will find out what each dot really represents...

For me I know the mil-dots represents 3" @ 100 yards - so I have somewhat a built in range finder and from all the shooting that I do I know fairly well the trajectory of my bullet so with the 3" marks, the range, and the trajectory - I can put it all together... non of this matters if you do not shoot a lot and have all these varibles plug in the memory, because at game time you often really do not have time to compute the whole thing.

But in reality you can do some of this with the common old dual X reticle... it is a given distance from the Xhair to the thicker post portion of the X once you know this distance you can use that to compensate for longer shots from a ML.

I hope some of this makes sense...

Unless you use the load they set it up with [not many people do] it would not be accurate. If I remember correctly that was a 150 [3 X 50 pellets] and a 250 Shock Wave. To shoot long distance you need to have tight groups at 100yds since my Omega will only group tight with 120 or 130gr I know it would be to far off for me. Lee

Whats nioce about the Omega is the long eye relief on it @ 5 inches I think.
