American Pioneer Powder
 

I just bought the first can this weekend and it is the FF loose. I have a Rem 700 and going to use the 295 gr. Powbelt Aero's. Wondering about how many grs. of powder to use with this bullet. Buy the way the 700 is 54 cal. Next ? how do you guys like this powder compared to Pyodex. Have never used Powerbelts either so the whole thing is a new start. I have always used the Hornady SSt and the XTP,but after the first shot have a hard time getting the bullets down the barrel. On the 700 not to bad but the H&R is real tough!!! I know you want a tight fit. Thinking of trying the Powerbelts in the H&R which is a 50cal also. Zeak

The American Pioneer is awesome powder. It's rather expensive but it's extremely clean, even compared to Pyrodex. I used 120 grains of powder with my Powerbelts for deer last year and the deer in it's tracks. I used the others mentioned and they are harder to load by far. Anyways, I definetely recommend the powder and Powerbelts although both are overpriced.

I am using that same load with 100 grains of ff powder,love the stuff
shoots out of my gun perfect!

some rifles like it some rifles don't. All you can do is try it and judge for yourself. Good luck. It is easy to clean.

I just went out and sighted the rifle in with the powder. Got around 2 1/2 inch groups at a 100 yds. with a red dot scope, so am happy with the powder. The H&R also loaded alot easier than when I used the Pyodex pellets. My only complant is that I wish they would make the granulation smaller. It was hard to get it to flow out of the powder horn and in the adjustable measure had to almost beat it out. Also had to check and see that it all came out. Is thier 3F smaller grained or is it like the 2F? Zeak

yes there is a 3f grain but you might not get the best accuracy with it. You could try it of course. I always got my best shooting with the 2f powder. Use an open nose brass powder measure and it will be fine... I also used a plastic ketchup bottle with the hole being over sized, so I could pour the stuff out better as a powder horn for the stuff.

The FFF has smaller grains,you might try it if you are using an 80 to 110 gr load some have had good luk with it.
My Omega will shoot 1.5 inch groups with PB and 150 APP FF so if I was going to use them thats what I would load. I tried the HPH24 sabots with XTP and Shock Waves and they both shoot tight groups out to 200 with a 130 gr load APP FF and I like them better even though most of my deer are taken between 20 and 30 yds I do have a few places I hunt where a 150 yd shoot is likely. A ketchup bottle with the oversized hole?? Cayugad, what were you thinking putting that in print? (You should have got a patent on that idea before you said anything, that's one heck of a good idea!) Thanks, I'll try that next time I fire up the .50 on the range. Hats off to you!
