I went out again this morning and walked trails to see if I could figure routes of them deer. I might have something working good this year.



I put this outhouse blind up. It overlooks two trails that cross a creek. For those that never used an outhouse blind, they have to be about the easiest thing in the world to set up. They do not even give instructions to set it up, only take it down. You set it on the ground give it a shake, and it pops right up.

I cut this open road back into the marsh to give the deer a place to walk with less things in their way. I like the idea of giving them a nice open place to gather and talk. I'm just that nice a guy. Also I can use the cedar and black ash trees back at the house.



This is right were the two trails cross. It is 47 yards from the outhouse blind. I walked out three different tracks, but this big track in the picture and that power dump he took, caught my interest. Last week, I tracked him over a mile through the marsh but never could get a look at him.



That is looking up the one deer trail to the creek. Not a place you want to wander into in late afternoon or evening. Good place to get lost and brake an ankle... I never try to get caught after dark in there. It is wet, cold, and just not a nice place to spend the night.

Overall I think with the White Ultra Mag at 47 yards, I might stand a chance, should that big boy come out to play. Friday, I am going to go back in there and set out some scent bombs but not open them until Saturday morning. I can shoot a buck and a doe, and this is our modern season, but I will still use the White. If I get a buck then I want to stalk hunt the rest of the season with a bunch of different rifles, but I do want to get the White bloody...

Gun season starts Saturday in NY too. I can't wait andI've been packing for over a week now. I'm arriving at our camp early Friday morning and I have the wife's approval to stay the whole week if I want to. Last year I saw a very good buck opening morning and my uncle called me yesterday to tell mehe saw the biggest racked buck he's ever seen less than a hundred yards from where I saw the one last year. He almost met Mr. Omega last year, hopefully this year he does.

Good luck to all of you going out this season. Remember to play it safe out there. I've yet to see a deer worth getting hurt over. I was told to stay out of trees this winter. Its going to seem strange being on the ground. But we will make due.

It starts Friday here. We have Friday, Saturday and Sunday to hunt this season. Next one comes the week after Thanksgiving and it's a 4 day weekend then.

My season was only 9 days in CO and ended in October.

Actually this is our modern season starting Saturday. We can hunt with about anything firearm wise within reason. Our muzzleloader season kicks in as soon as the modern season is over, whilch is the first Monday after Thanksgiving. Then we muzzleloader hunt until Dec 9th I believe it is. I just never use modern rifles anymore and have not done so for years...
