Well, the best i do not really know, but a really good one and for the most part un-heard of are rifle scopes by Swift. Swift is a major maker of microscopes - so they know quality lens - The Swift Premier is really a quality scope, I have a 2x7x40 on one of my Remingtons and it has performed flawlessly. One of the reasons I jumped on it was a 2x7x40, most often you will only find a 2x7x32 - I like the light so I got the 40. Here is an example http://www.opticsplanet.net/swift-2-7x40mm-wa-waterproof-matte-riflescope-658m.html I have and use Leupold's VX-IIc's which are very good but overated, 2 Sightron's which are OK, nothing to shout about, Several Bushnells from the inexpensive"Trophy" which is a good scope - in fact I would take that over the Sightrons - but for me the best of all of them are the Bushnell "Elites" with the rain guard lenses. No need for lens caps in most instances... the Elites a 3x9x40's. I am using the "Elite" 3200 - You can get them for $179 - that is the best price I have seen lately. I just purchased a 3200 with the "Ballistic Reticle" put it on my Omega - "AWESOME" http://www.scopesnmore.com/riflescopes4less/bushnell_elite_rifle_scopes.htm Good luck in your search... I forgot to mention I have 2 Tasco World Class 3x9x40 Mil Dots on my Austin and Hallecks.. Now these are cheap $39.00 scopes, bottom of the heap type scopes - they have been on 3 years now and they have taken a beating, I have even bought other scopes to replace them with when they go bad - cause everyone says they will, well they must be made by "Timex" because they just keep on keeping on... soooo sometimes it is not the price of the dog... mike |

Sabotloader
Yours &my old, formerTascos keep on going - for as long as no adjustment is needed. Both of my old Tascos died when the windage or elevation adjustment spun freely - then popped out of its socket. Last one happened to me 72 hours before Opening Day 2000. I was scheduled to work up-until the wee-hours of Opening Day. So I had no time to put on another one. Forced to hunt with a different rifle for Opening Day.... ie... centerfire. Yuck!Back then, I was the owner of only one ML. Now I own several. |
RE: scope for TC Omega?
I personally look for a scope with GOOD eye relief. I like 4" at least or in that area. I can not really comment on the higher end scopes because I refuse to put a high dollar scope on a muzzleloader. I shoot the open breech design rifles so your Omega is not in this class. The open breech tend to burn the bottoms of the scopes and fowl them real bad. I want a scope that five years down the road, should it fail, its not the end of the world.
I have a number of low end scopes but one of my favorite is a Nikon Pro Staff 2-7x32mm. I think the scope is around $119.00 but it is one tuff scope. I would put it with many of the more high dollar ones out there. I also have a Sightron 1 in 3-9x40 and it is an excellent scope without a doubt. If I were going to spend a little more money on scopes I would look at the Nikons, Bushnells, Sightron, even the low end Leupold is around $179.00 . All these decisions... good luck with your set up. I am sure what ever you pick, that rifle will shoot well.... Also save some of that money and get Warne QD rings. I think all my rifles will someday wear them. |

RE: scope for TC Omega?
Any Nikon. Great value, excellent optics.
I bought both a buckmaster 3x9x40 and a Prostaff 2x7x32 on Ebay at a substantial discount. Love them both I really like the two piece mount from Talley. Very strong and stable. Milled from a piece of solid aluminum allow. Perfect fit and finish. http://webpages.charter.net/tlovell/TC%20Omega%20Z5,%20Nikon%203X9,%20Talley%20mounts% 20001.jpg |
