CVA Breech Plug

I have a CVA Firebolt and while putting it back in the gun this weekend, one of the lips on it broke off. I thought it would be easy enough to replace so I went to my local Bass Pro shop to get one. The guy there tells me that CVA is aware of the problem with them breaking and to call them and they would send me a new one. I called them this morning and it is 12.99 for the new plug. I asked to have it shipped so I could have it before the weekend and they said it would be an additional 20 bucks to have it here by Thursday. Does anyone know where I can get one of these replacement breech plugs. I tried Cabelas, but they are on backorder.

Thanks in advance.

Bass Pro should have them in stock for less than $20. Sportsmans Warehouse also stocks them. The Winchester BP is the same thing so check and see if they have that one. Also I would press BPI/CVA for a new one at no charge, it does have a lifetime garantee and should not have broken. That way you will have a backup.Mine is 5 years old and I've not had any problems with it. BPI recently sent me (free)oneof the newer designs (like theOptima and Kodiak use)to try out in my Magbolt and it works also.

Good luck with it.

RE: CVA Breech Plug

I checked at our local Bass Pro store and they don't carry that kind anymore. I also called CVA and they charged me for a replacement. Are the breech plugs covered under the warranty also?? If so, I am calling them back right now. Do you know if the one they make for the optima would work in the firebolt?

Thanks

RE: CVA Breech Plug

dmurphy317,

Thanks for the heads up on the warranty. I called them back and they are sending one out. The guy asked if I had the stock removed when I was removing the breech plug. I said that I did and he said that 95 percent of the ones they see broken are because of the person cleaning the gun, not removing the stock and trigger when cleaning.

thanks CVA and thanks dmurphy317
