Barnes Spitfires?
Hey guys, I new to this whole forum thing, my wife has so much fun doing this kind of stuff I figured I needed to find some friends to talk to also. Well with my pathetic opener out of the way heres my real question.
The real questionI have is about Barnes spitfires, has anyone had any experience with these I just ordered myself some of thses in the 245gr version for the up coming gun season here. I use a CVA wolf magnum been shooting up a can of APP its been alright so far. |
RE: Barnes Spitfires?
Welcome to the forum. Its good to have you here. As for the Barnes Spitsfire I am shooting the 285 grain Barnes and the 300 grain Barnes Expanders. Both of them are very well made bullets and I find I can push them very hard and still maintain accuracy.
In your Wolf you might want to try some Powerbelts, or even some 240 grain XTP's. I base this on a young man who bought a New Frontier Beartooth and wanted help sighting it in. We discovered it shot the powerbelts in 245 grain real will with 80 grains of 777. Also it shot the XTP's with the same charge real well. The powerbelts seem to work as he shot a deer with them the first time out that season. Good luck with your Wolf. |
RE: Barnes Spitfires?
The Barnes Spitfires 245s are a good choice from hunters reports I've read. Supposedly, the diameter is smaller than the 285s - so they load easier.
