Omega Loads

I'm gonna purchase an Omega with a thumbhole stock and needs some help. What are the loads you guys are using out of your omega and gettting good results with? I don't need the usual this is better than that. I just want to know what powder, how much, what bullet, and how heavy. I want to narrow it all down. It will be open sites and used for deer. Thanks for the help.

BigBuckShooter

Short quick answer, for whitetail, --- 100 grain t7-2f, 250-260 grain projectile, MMP HPH-24 black sabot, Remington 209-4 shotgun primer.

May not be the best answer you will need to do some shooting.

There are several threads on here about the Omega or Encore should be able to find several loads in them.

good luck and have fun

RE: Omega Loads

My Omega will shoot a range of loads but the Shock Waves[250 and 300grI like the 250 best]are made for the gun and do the best in mine and a lot of others it will shoot 100 to 130 gr and get 1 to 1.75 inch groups [5 shot] depending on which load and how well I am holding. It will shoot RS pyrodex, APP FF and777 FF[but I get crud ring from 777 and dont like to have to scrub it out before reloading when I am hunting] theXTP 250gr will shoot good out to 125 and they are cheapI used win. 777 209's for the777 and regular WIN. 209 for RS and APP FF.
I tried Power Belts but they would shoot good sometimes and not so good sometimes,of course they are designed for a CVA barrel which might have something to do with it. I have also tried some 240 and 250 lead bullets in .44 &.45 cal. and they shot quite good with 100 gr of RS. Hope this helps. Lee

Last year I shot 250gr. Hornady SSTs (same bullet as the Shockwaves) over 100 gr. of 777 pellets. Very accurate but I didn't like performance on game (no exit wound, little bleeding).

This year I am working up loads with loose powder. So far my best shooter is 115 gr. of loose 777 shooting 300 gr. Speer Gold Dots with HPH-24 sabots.

All loads shot using Remington Kleanbore primers.

I bought that same ML a month and half ago- Mine shoots the best with the Super Glide ShockWaves 250g with 777 pellets-I get identical groups with 130 and 150 g loads so i shoot the 150. This is the best pellet powder set up I have come across-And I do get suprisingly tight groups 3 shots in a copecan circle-you put on a scope you should be able to do at least that good

Another thing you might consider is the fact that a lot of Omegas will shoot two loads good with the same sabot and bullet; mine likes 90 and 130 gr for 250 gr bullets but for some reason the pure lead bullets only shoot good with the lighter load so you may have a choice of loads.Lee

I have that ML and shoot 250gr Shockwaves with two 50gr T7 pellets. Shoots tight groups at 100 yards and I have not had a whitetail go farther than 50 yard after the shot.
