RE: Replacement ramrod: Which is best?
Reasonably priced and DURABLE - the Super Rod - Hunter model from Cain's Outdoor is hard to beat. Easy on barrels, versatile and about as "unbreakable" as anything. Also quiet in the thimbles.
Search for "super rod - hunter" (without the quotation marks)at http://www.cainsoutdoor.com/cart/asp/item_index.asp They've about any size you might need. I've got one of this model http://www.cainsoutdoor.com/cart/asp/select_item.asp?item=18091that I use as a range rod. It's .50 caliber but I worked the tapped end down to smoothly work with.45 cal attachments.Makes fora dual caliber range rod that I wouldn't part with and the one rod (of many) I always take to the bench. At 7/16" diameter, it is a close fit in a .45 bore but goes down just fine. No handle but I have one if ever it's needed (so far it hasn't been). |

Do not get the T/C Aluminum Pack Rod. It broke on me!!

RE: Replacement ramrod: Which is best?
Well, your pack rod broke? I have used mine for range and bench work for over 5 years and it is going strong. It is the only one I use for a range rod.

RE: Replacement ramrod: Which is best?
I use a tubular brass ramrod.

I have the Rugged rod and love it. It's definetely the toughest ramrod you'll find. Why buy one of those flimsy things? There's not a chance that I'll break the Rugged Rod.
