RE: wat the best way to clean

Traditional rifles that the breech plug can not be removed... I like to clean them with a bucket of soap and water. After pumping the water through the barrel to flush all the fowling out, I then like to run a solvent patch or two through the barrel to make sure everything is out. After that a pure alcohol patch and then dry patch it. After you're sure it is bone dry, then oil the barrel.

If this is a modern inline rifle with a removable breech plug, I like to pull the plug and trigger assembly if possible. Then I like to run some big patchs with a soap and water or simple green type cleaner to get the large amounts of fowling out the barrel. Work from the breech to the muzzle if possible.

After the fowling is moved out, then I like to take a brush and dip that in solvent and brush the barrel. Also this is a good opportunity to put a patch on that brush and work over the breech plug threads (check them with a flashlight if necessary) and make sure they are nice and clean.

After that some solvent patches or window cleaner and alcohol patches to make sure the barrel is nice and clean. With the addition of a few dry patches to make sure the barrel is clean and dry.

Once all the parts are clean and treated, I oil the barrel and re-assemble the rifle properly...
