power belts?

cva suggest that i shoot power belts just wandering if a 245grain bullet with a 100 grain load would be good and accurate @ 100yards with enuf power to drop white tail and boars thanks for your time

I shoot a Traditions .50 cal. I use a 348 grain power belt with 130 grains of pyrodex pellets for elk. I would think your 245 grain with 100 grains of powder would be sufficient for deer and boar. Just make sure your gun shoots accurately with that combo and you're good to go. My state doesn't allow jacketed bullets, so the lead hollowpoint power belt is my #1 choice.

Yes a 245 grain with 100 grains of powder is more then enough for deer and I would guess hog. They should also be very accurate. I shoot them out of my CVA Staghorn with excellent results out to 100 yards. My Staghorn has a RED DOT scope on it, and does some impressive shooting with those powerbelts..

Unless you purchase the 270 GR. Platinum Powerbelt, this one below would be a better choice than any 245 gr. lead or copper-clad Powerbelt.

RE: power belts?

I have used the powerbelt airo tip bullets for a few years... the following is what I have found out:
1. They are very accurate out to 100 yards... beyond that they do not group as well.
2. They have excellant penetration but limited expansion.
3. I had tried the hollow tip and they did not group well in my rifle.
4. This year my friends and I experimented with the TC Shockwaves... we were able to get them to shoot a 3 inch group at 150 yards... using 100 grn of powder.
