Best pellet powder
 

I've been shooting pyrodex pellets since they came out... I'm about out and ready to buy some new... Just wondering what you all think is the best...

There are advantages and disadvantages to all of them. Cost wise, around here, Pyrodex RS pellets are the cheapest. While they fowl the barrel more then American Pioneer Sticks or Triple Se7en, the fowling is still soft and easy to swab. Triple Se7en on the other hand, shooters can still experience the hard crud ring which forces them to swab between shots, they cost more, and are technically no more powerful then RS or APP. APP pellets from all reports seem to work good, but I have never shot them. I've heard from other posters that while accuracy is good with them, they are not happy with the "condition" of the sticks sometimes. They report chunks missing from the sticks. That would be a turn off for me right there. I am currently shooting APP 3f loose, and not real impressed with it, especially after todays shooting session.

All rifles have to be cleaned at the end of the day. While Pyrodex RS might take a few minutes more to clean, if your rifle is sighted in with that now, and you are happy with the accuracy, my question to you is, why change powders? Granted it is fun to experiment, but the other powders are no guarantee of better accuracy.

I've shot Triple 7 and Pyrodex pellets and prefer the Pyrodex . I didn't see where the Triple 7 pellets gave me any advantage and they cost a lot more .

Pyrodex RS in my 12 guage and pellets in my in-lines. Cost is low as compared to 777 and my accuracy is right on. I see no reason to switch unless production is stopped and I highly doubt that will happen. I've had no problems with cleaning, it's a muzzleloader it's suppose to get dirty. It usually keeps me away from the wife for a few hours without all that nagging, so the more dirty it is I like it.

I prefer T7 due to ignition reliability. Pyrodex used to have a couple grains of black on one end of the pellet to help iliminate this problem when using no.11 primers. But the 209 primers light just about anything down the bore. The second reason is clean up. T7 comes clean with just water, not pyro.

All depends on your defintion of "best".

Some shooters want to pay less to define "best"
Some shooters want less fouling to define "best"
Some shooters want longer spells between gun cleanings to define "best"
Some shooters want whichever's more accurate to define 'best"
Some shooters don't crud rings defined as'best"
Some shooters don't want patch or plastic sabot deterioration to define "best"
Some shooters dont want breechplug seizures to define 'best'.

There's more....... it's reallywhat you want/think - not what werecommend, Both have equal power/energy per the same amount of grains. You make the call.

Has anyone tried the new GOEX Pinnacle EZ Loads? I've heard they are supposed to shoot cleaner than Pyrodex.

Almost any powder will shoot cleaner then Pyrodex. I've shot a lot of Pinnace but never tried their E-Z loads... I am sure they would shoot very clean as the loose powder sure does.

Like said before... If it aint broke don't fix it:D I'll be getting the Pyrodex pellets...
