whats better blackpowder or something else
hello all i was thinking what would be better to shoot black powder or some of the new stuff out their. i have heard that clean shot did not leave deposits like black powder.

All muzzleleoader propellants have their advantages and disadvantages. None are perfect!! You need to try a variety of them, and decide which is best for your uses!!

CleanShot (or American Pioneer Powder as it's known now) is the cleanest burning of all the powders on the market. it is about equal in power to true B/P and slightly less powerful than Pyrodex.
The new Triple 7 powder is not quite as clean, but it is really powerful - requiring a 15 to 20% reduction in powder load when compared to Pyro or B/P. It is very consistent too, but its higher pressure can cause some problems with primer splits and breech plug sticking in some guns.
The best thing to do is try some and see how it works for you.

I use black too. I think if a man is too lazy to clean his rifle then he needs to take up bowling or something. Any muzzleloader will stop up if you dont clean it, no matter what propellent you use. But what the heck do I know? I even clean my cartridge guns after shooting.
