RE: seized breech plug problem

For better or worse, I always use a socket set on my breechplug to break it loose. Didn't take long to "warp" the original tool. However, never tighten the plug with the socket. Hand tight is plenty.

RE: seized breech plug problem

Ark,
Have a couple buddies that had some very bad cleaining habits = froze breech plug.Had a couple freeze myself in my early smoke pole days.

Get a can of PB Blaster.Comes in spray can avail almost any auto jobber or Wally Mart. Cover breech plug hole to prevent leakage and spray PB down barrel.Let sit for 24 hrs.Try to remove and tap - tap on the wrench while trying to loosen. If it doesn't come out spray more PB down barrel and wait another 8-24.
If still won't come out apply a slight amount of heat to breech area around barrel. If it doesn't pop loose - time to take it to gun smith or back to factory.

BTW - look around local auto and marine shops,PB Blaster will probably be on 75% of all mecahnics benches.

Good Luck
