250 gr shochwaves. How much 777

I plan on shooting 250 gr shockwaves out of my omega using 777 powder. I was just curious if anyone else shoots this set up and what amount of powder you have had the best luck with.
Thanks

My Encore which has a similar barrel love 120g of loose (powder) T7 with the 250g Shockwave. All of my fast twist guns like the bullets with T7 from about 80g up to the 120g in the Encore.

I, in the past have really been happy happy with a 100 grains of T7-2F, but recently, well since march i have been using 110 grains and it is working well in all of the my inlines, Rem's - Omega - White - A&H.

The Omega and Encore were deisgned& developed with magnum powder charges of Pyrodex. It's no surprise that T/Cs love "up-to 150 grains" of powder. The bullet they relied on most in testingwas (cough-cough)... the subpar ballistic coefficient T/C 240 gr. Mag Sabot.

Up until this year that is the exact combination I was shooting and really like the accuracy and performance with it.

However, I decided that due to seeing the local dominate buck 3 times in the same place 185 yards away from my stand I need to have a load that will go a bit more distance.

We, my friend and I, have been experimenting with 3 Pellets of T7 and the 50Cal Sabot 40 Cal HornadyXTP combo.Dont know if I am satisfied with it yet, will let everyone know how things go.

That blue sabot may cause some inconsistences with 150 gr. I suggest the 45/50(240 XTP Mag) with the high pressure black sabot.

This is the combination I have been shooting since March - I am to cheap to buy the TC ShockWave or the SST so I buy boxes of 10mm 200 grain XTP's and Blue Sabots from MMP. I am shooting them with a 110 grains of T7-2f and the are performing great on paper. I have shot them to 150 yards with really good accuracy. @ 175 and beyond I need to start compensating for drop. I WILL take a whitetail with one this year - unless a nice buck shows up in fronto my scope during elk season.

I am not sure what Triple Seven is referring to about the failure of the blue sabot - but in all the shooting I have done - I have not seen it with the MMP sabots.

Good luck with the 200's - get back if drop one with it - I really want to know the results - unless I can beat you to it.

Does anybody know what is going on with MMP? I ordered 100 HPH24 balck sabots 3 weeks a go and since I have heard nothing from Del [I live about 70 miles away from him] I called when I could not get him I left a message but he never answered that either. Lee

So far the Blue Sabots look normal that we have picked up off the ground and looked at, they are still whole and just spread out like all the other sabots I have used. I have one, will post a pic when I go home ifkids dont havethe camera.

Although I haveonly ordered from them a few times, I have always had very good service from the folks at MMP, must be something going on.

call the regular number and talk to Connie - she usually handles all the mailing. Sometimes orders do get misplaced - Del works hard at keeping everything simple.

They look normal withat least 100 grains of 777?????

If that's the case, the broken blue petals of the past must of been corrected.

That's good news - I need to try the improved blue ones.

The Blue Sabots look normal after firing using three pellets of T7, I didnt see any of them with any broken leafs or petals, whatever ya want to call them. They were all semi close together too.

I still have some that are three years-old. I expect to lose two petals upon every ignition with 100 grains 777. Somehow, accuracy remains very good.

I get groups of 1.5" or less at 100 yards with my Omega usin 110gr t72f and a 250gr shockwave.

I found after a lot of testing that my Omega likes 120 grains of T7 and the 120 reg. shockwaves but all guns are different so If I were you I'd test my own from 100 to 150 gr in 10 gr incriments and see which load your gun likes. Also if its new it could change once its broke in mine did.

My Omega also loves the 250gr Shockwave pushed by 120gr of loose T7 3f.

Two 50 grain pellets of Triple Se7en work great pushing a 250 grain TC Shockwave out to 150 yards in my Omega's and Encores. What I have found out about these easy to clean muzzleloaders is that the accuracy is very consistent if you clean it between shots. And that is also the breechplug. Triple 7 cleans wonderful with just water. And after a good dose of it the breechplug is easily cleaned and blown out with a can of air. If you are in a tree stand shooting you have at least 30 minute before you want to come down and track Mr. Deer anyway. I always carry a backup that will take care of Mr. Disgruntled Bear (only in a have to situation where I am on the menu). Within 30 minutes you can do a thorough cleaning of the Omega and be ready for business again!

Sorry for the delay and blurry pic but this is one of the blue sabots we shot using 3 pellets of T7 last weekend.

Thanks for the pic Omegalover. Like I stated earlier, older blue sabot would normally shed two petals wheneverreaching-out with bullet distances occured. Glad to see Del found a way to keep them on at production.
