felt material

I read on a post a few months ago, I believe from Cayugad regarding felt material for homemade bore buttons. Can someone give me some info on where they get their's and what type of tool do you use to 'punch' them out.

Cayugad's been M.I.A. all week here.

Vacation?... Computer crash?.... I dunno!

Here is a link that will provide you with more links for felt wads, patch cutters & wad punches. Due to bore diametervariances from ML-to-ML, I always buy the prelubricatedwads in "54-cal" for my 50-cal MLs.

They ensure a better seal.

Bronko - Here's a link that I saved that discussed this very topic. And I see that Cayugad "felt" the link was a good one.

Sorry, I couldn't resist:D

Go down to the [FM18] series, that is what was reccomended to me.

Then you will need an "arch punch", 1/32 to 1/16 larget than the bore size.

Harbor freight is the cheapest place to start. You can sharpen down a holes saw or a pc of pipe will get you started.

Something else that works is a "plug cutter " on a drill press. It is a tool used in cabinet making. Lee
