I used nothing but Hornady 300gr XTP's for years (go figure eh ?? LOL) .. but the last couple seasons have been pushing 300gr Nosler SHOTS down my barrel. Just a basic jacketed hollow point but they are a little more accurate and far easier to load after a few rounds have been shot. The bucks I have taken with these bullets haven't noticed they are cheapies !!

That is a very good point as well T/C has realized use regulars were not going to spend $16-$18 a box for Shockwaves and they now are priced pretty fair considering that you are getting a premiem round.

I've made my purchase!
100 crush-rib sabots, .45->.50
50 300 grain HP Hornady rifle bullets
50 swaged 480-grain spitzers
and a cleaning thingie- may be a gimmick but looks good to me: http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/product/standard-item.jsp?id=0031503215800a&navCount=1&podI d=0031503&parentId=cat20819&masterpathid=& amp;navAction=jump&cmCat=MainCatcat602007-cat20819&catalogCode=IG&rid=&parentTyp e=index&indexId=cat20819&hasJS=true

ask and ye shall receive

480's: http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/product/standard-item.jsp?id=0002861212653a

300's: http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/product/standard-item.jsp?_DARGS=/cabelas/en/common/catalog/item-link.jsp_A&_DAV=MainCatcat602007-cat20843_TGP&id=0024283213183a

I also have a hundred crush-rib sabots, so I should be able to have some fun and get reasonably accurate with my eternally delayed muzzleloader (long story). Assuming equal grouping, I'll probably use the 480s because I have shortish ranges in the woods and am willing to blast some venison out the other side of Bambi in order to be sure to drop him fast.

You may find the .458 rifle bullets a little too fat even with the crush rib sabots. I would be interested in how they work in the Huntsman. I have a Huntsman also.

Natchez used to sell the orange .458 plastic sabots. But now they're discontinued. I wonder who sells them online... anyone know

Also..... that 480 gr conical is a .510 diameter. Better have your grunting shoes on when you load those babies.
