26" vs 28" flutted
 

Is there any big advantages? Will the accuracy get that much better with the 28" flutted?

Maybe when the barrel heats up - the fluting will slightly help. Outside of that, I see no difference. But I'm not an expert on fluted barrels either.

Seems to me, you could of helped your accuracy concernsmore "as the gun ages"bybuying the Pursuit Pro frame version. It's steel versus the one you have.

For hunting and in a hunting situation - you would never know the difference - Target shooting -> maybe...

Professional shooter - shooting all the time maybe...

Having a fluted barrel is supposed to cut down weight and help cool the barrel down faster. Does it work? I have no clue. It does give the gun a nice look to it tho :D

Most of the MFG boast of the lightness of a gun with a fluted barrel. I personally have never felt overly burdoned by a hunting rifle but may be a light framed man or woman after hunting all day that half pound could make a huge difference.

Do they dissapate more heat because of the added surface area exposed for cooling or is it because more of the barrel is thinner?

I do agree that the fluting looks kinda cool on the stainless barrels.

I am not having any accuracy problems I was just curious about spare/replacement barrels. I am still working on the best load and still sighting in as you seen in my other post. I know that the pursuit LT is a lower end muzzleloader and there is alot of ??? about barrels made in spain but I am not shooting magnum loads and my muzzleloader shot great at the range no problems so to me its all I need IMO it will take down a deer or bear or anything just as well as anything else(sorry I hope I haven't offended anyone). I don't want to spend $500 for an omega or $650 for an encore for a few years and and up here in Canada walmart doesn't sell Z5's.

The Pursuit is not made by BPI. It's made by Traditions. BTW... I own three of them.

Nobody here is questioning the integrity of your purchase. You had accuracy questions & the best answers I know of were given.

If you want to make an Pursuit-fitting aftermarket purchase with accuracy in mind, I would look at a stronger stock before I looked at a fluted barrel.

For hunting - nothing other than looks is gained (especially in a ML). I'd stick with the standard 26" or whatever you have now and put the investment into finding a combo that will shoot in your rifle.
(I read yourother post -which was only a few days old so don't hit the pannick button with only a few days under your belt. Like T7 mentioned try some Harvester sabots(try ebay)or MMP HPH24's vs the 12's that comes packaged with the SST's.PR bullet in Manitoba has MMP sabots if you can't find them locally.??Try Powerbelts, I know a few tight bore shooters who swear by them...personally I never saw the need as I have found ways to get the bullets shooting in my Ml's. 240 XTP has been one way toso keep trying them and I would alsosuggest a bump to 90-95 gr once you start playing at the 100 yard target) Sorry not related to this thread, just thought I'd post one reply - hence the brackets[&:]!

i had a TRADITION LT 26" barrel ..now i owe a TRADITION PRO 28" barrel ..no differance in accuracy ...but i am 2" closer to the target ..ps. RANDY WAKEMAN used to say shorter barrels are more accurate ??????
