RE: My Omega likes pyrodex!
The QLA can absolutely be a real problem child and its removal along with proper re-crowning of the barrel have helped in almost every case - usually the improvement is dramatic. I like TC rifles but the QLA is just a very bad idea, IMHO. If you need a false muzzle, then design a rifle with a proper one... one that is removed before firing. QLA generally means quick loss of accuracy to me, but my preference has always been conicals. Maybe the new Pro Hunters will have less a problem if the barrel and QLA tolerances are narrowed.

RE: My Omega likes pyrodex!
txhunter58,
I went out today to try the Pyrodex/Powerbelt Platinum (338) combo in my Omega. I got the best results using 90 grains. Pyrodex definitely seems to be the way to go because I was also getting good groups out of the Great Plains and Maxi-Balls. I still could not get decent groups with the No Excuses. I think I need one more trip to the range before I am completely comfortable with an elk load for this fall, but I definitely feel better after today. I appreciate you posting your results here as it has helped me out alot. |

That is what it is all about! I have been helped by guys here so many times. Glad it worked out. I am going back out today myself for a final tune up.
