RE: 1 in 20 twist
In my Traditions 45 caliber with the 1:20 using heavy bullet 330 gr if memory serves right, for caliber 80 to 85 grains 2F yielded best groups.

RE: 1 in 20 twist
Since the velicity controls the spin of a bullet -IE the fster it goes down the barrel the faster it spins-you can get the same results as a 1-28 by reducing the velicity. My experance is that a 1-20 works good for 1100 to 1600 fps with bullets from 200 to 350 gr.Lee

ORIGINAL: jojotater What is a goodload for a 1 in 20 twist? You will probably get your best accuracy with the heavier bullets. My 1/20" twist .45's shoot very well with the Lyman-Gould .457122HP (342 grains from pure lead) sized .451"-.452", so they are a tight sliding fit in a clean bore. They expand into the rifling like a Power Belt on firing. I use a .45 Wonderwad under the bullet, and shoot them "naked" - no lube on the bullet.. |
