Should you tell them that poor accuracy exits while using their T/C accessories/bullets, they will generally/usually address the problemand/or offer you some return-to-accuracy options.
Before buying my last Omega, I saw and heard of no info from TC that I would have to use T/C accessories/bullets to acheive acceptable accuracy. I also did not realize this would affect warrenty or level of customer service. None of this info is in their warrenty. Where can I find TC's admission of this?

Steve
Whio in tarnations ever said the only way to achieve accuracy in their T/Cs is by using T/C bullets?????????

What a ridiculous statement.

Again... please name one ML manufacturer that will correct/alter/replace your bore so you can shoot a rival's bullet more accurately?????

A fewof you-guys are hilarious on subjects like this one!

There is nothing wrong with those Spanish barrels, or anyone else's barrel, for that matter, as long as you stick to the vendor's specified maximum load of powder and lead. I have two Traditions inlines, and both are rated for 150 grains of Pyrodex pellets or an equivalent load of loose powder.

I am convincedthat no corporation in their right mind is going to recommend a maximum load that is potentially dangerous in the rifles they sell! They just can't afford it in this sue-happy culture of ours! Hell, they get sued even when they are NOt at fault! Even if someone told you the exact formulation of the steel in a rifle barrel, you really don't know anything useful, anyway.

These corporations expect everyone to know their inlines inside-out & never make a loading mistake.

The reason I recommends T/Cs and Knights is because of (for example)such things like (hypothetical)777 crud rings that cause improper loading of the bullet in rare occasions.

Mistakenly load a T/C or Knight with a bullet 3/4" away fromyour three-pellet loadpowder. Now mistakenly load the same thing in a Spanish barrel. Now squeeze the trigger & tell me which gun held up better.... which has the less damage????

We all makes mistakes in this world.... get side-tracked.... get disturbed by others at the range while loading..... etc.

I own Spanish guns too. They are perfectly fine. But I know which gun-make I want in my hands when the day comes that I make amistake/short-sighted mistake in my loading routine. I know what manufacturers I want when it comes to a warranty issue years from now.

What Spanish guns give youthis anytime,full-lifetime/no receipt necessary, free replacement warranty???

I too know what rifle I want in my hands! And it is not any commercially-made gun of any description! It is my Virgil Hartley .50 cal. Hawken with the Bill Large (chorme-moly) barrel!

It has certainly been strongly implied that with some individual guns, that this is the case. If they are indeed a "sabot" gun as some have been told by Tc customer service, Should not this info be available prior to purchase?

I never said anyone should or that TC should either.

However, I fully expected loads that worked very well in my previous 2 Omegas should do better then 12"' at 50 yds!!
I also expected a barrelwithout the obviously has tight and loose spots as you push the sabot down.
I also expected that the detailed letter I sent in with gun would be read and responded to instead of a reply, "cleaned gun, 2 50gr pellets with TC SW's - 1 3/4 at 100yds". No other detail and no mention of my letter which included my intent to not use pellets ever and gave a very detailed account of the time, cost and materials I went thru trying to work a load.
I expected the gun when shipped back to be packaged so as to not receive it with 2 severe scratches and my rear ramp site missing.

Perhaps I expected to much from a gun costing over $500?
You are right - to have these expectations does appear to be quite hilarious to someone.

EVERY ML is different -- much-so than a centerfire spec-guarded by organizations like S.A.A.M.I

You never get an identical gun the next time around when you buy the same ML. The one right after yours on an assembly line is different than yours. It's like that with all MLs. Plus, periodically, companies like T/C edit/modify their guns/components/accessories.

Also... every time you keep buying Omegas (which I think is ridiculous to keep doing this)... you increase your odds (like anything else in this world) of getting one that is not up to expectations.

Sounds like you were one OF THE VERY-VERY FEW that got a substandard one.

You keep buying & selling Omegas... so why stop now?

Go buy a Spanish gun next - if you are so preturbed with T/C Inc. Nothing is perfect in life - not even in muzzleloaders-world. You are one of a tiny group of unhappy customers. Sell it & buy a CVA or Traditions -- if that's what makes you happy!

It's all about being happy with your purchase. If T/C says your rifle is within spec & you say it isn't & it won't shoot correctly for you.... get rid of it. I never claim T/C Inc. produces ALL ONE HUNDRED THOUSAND of their MLs perfectly.

If you want a guarantee that something is perfect.... buy a toaster instead.

Shame on you Triple Se7en. That really has never been the issue. The issue is the blatantly inferior attention to detail that T/C apparently pays to barrel construction. Does it make competing conical shoot crappy? Sure it does. It also makes T/C concials shoot crappy to!

Think about what you are saying. You are in effect saying that uneven bores and misaligned QLA's are fine because they prevent one from using competing conicals. That is ridiculous. No one is going to buy that.

And is an Omegaout of the box 350 yard game killer? Really, don't you think that's an exageration? I don't think that Txhunter58's rifle is capable of that with the 250 shockwaves. In fact, I'm sure it isn't. A machine rested 1 3/4 pattern "sucks" and is not capable of 300 yard shot, andprobably not reliable to 200. I will put my Sidekick against his Omega any day of the week. Name the bullet. He was given a BAD one OUT OF THE BOX and T/C thinks its "good enough" for him.

Happy Hunting, Phil

I deer hunt in Illinois and as most know, you can't hunt with a rifle. So, I was considering a muzzleloader for this years gun season so that I can reach out a get a deer up to 200 yards.Almost everyone I have talked to has recommended a Thompson Omega. I wasn' sure if there were other guns out there I should look into or if there was a certain Omega model I should get. Plus, I was wondering what so of you think about muzzleloaders in general(i.e.-accurancy, cleaning, difficulties, etc.) Thanks in advance!
For the last 5 years in IL I have only used an ML... My recommendation would be 1 of these 4, in no particular order...

1) Any White, you can get anywhere from 22"-26" barrel length, mainly conical shooters but can and do shoot sabots well. This has been my main ML during this time and I have harvested deer anywhere from 20yds to 190yds. I have 2 a Model 98 Elite Hunter in .451 cal and a Super 91 in .504 cal.

2) Knight DISC Elite in .50 cal. I have had 3 of these as well in blue and SS... I found the blues easier to find a load for. But in all fairness I only shot the SS about 25 or so times before selling it. I harvested deer from 30 to 174yds with the Elites. The last two I have not personally owned or, if owned, hunted or shot with yet...

3) Savage 10MLII .50 cal, I have the blued/syn version. I have not shot it yet but am gathering all of the stuff together to shoot with it. Why did I get it? Flat shooting over corn and bean fields... I can hold on hair with the right load out to 200yds or beyond. With my Super 91 I had a 12 inch holdover at 190yds, that was with the load printing 5" high at 100yds. With the DISC Elite, 174yds was my MPBR for 120gn of T7 2f and a 250gn MZ Expander... I hope to have a good bean field shooter in the Savage.

4) The TC Omega... two friends purchased theirs last year and bagged 2 bucks. Very user friendly just as accurate it seems as the DISC Elite. I would probably have gotten an Omega if I had never purchased an Elite.

In fact I would probably recommend the Omega over the DISC Elite if you were going strictly sabot shooting, the QLA in the TC's can mess up conical shooting but you might get lucky and get one that can shoot both. The Knight can shoot both conical and sabot... sabot being the better choice. The Whites were designed to shoot conicals but can shoot the sabots well too, conical is the better choice though. The Savage is strictly a sabot shooter if all you are going to use is smokeless powder... you can use other BP subs in it but why? I would recommend the Savage over the Omega as a sabot shooter if you are not afraid to educate yourself in the safe use of smokeless powder in a gun designed to use it, only the Savage is smokeless powder shooter. For a ML that will shoot conicals and sabots well, is legal in every state to use, get a White in .504 cal. The only difficulty right now may be availability... but you can find them.
