RE: 45 verses the 50

Exactly! A typical deer has a 5" kill zone. Even a big bore 58-cal should handle that at 100-150 yards. So much more to offer - besides being an inch low, wideor high - by investing in a 50-cal instead of the others.

RE: 45 verses the 50

The 45 shoots flater at longer ranges due to the ligher bullets. Then again thats not true, it depends on the bullet you use. i prefer the .50 bcuz they offer a huge range of different bullets and weights. Its easier to find .50 bullets in a small town gun store. And there are states that only allow elk hunting with a .50 ir bigger. In colorado only .40- .45 calibers are only legal for deer, bear and antelope. And the bullet must weight a minimum of 170 grains. Elk and moose must be .50 or larger and have a bullet weight of 170 grains in 50cal and if over 54 caliber must weigh over 200 grains. .50 is the best over all gun to go with. And accuracy all depends on your load but most important, It depends on how steady you can hold on target. I prefer a nice steady tree branch in the woods.

I would go with the 50cal since it will shoot target just as good as the 45cal and will take a moose or an elk witha good bullet. The 45cal is no legal in some states for elk.
