TC Warranty Dept…who to ask for ???

I recall reading on this forum a recommendation on who to speak to at TC for warranty repair work. Can anyone remember the fellow’s name?

Here’s my problem (please allow me to vent here). Yesterday I finally received from TC a ML I had sent back for warranty work. Unfortunately, much to my disappointment, they merely test fired the ML, cleaned, repackaged, and returned to me. [:@] They never fixed the problem!! I couldn’t believe it.

To make matters worse, the ML was so loosely packaged in the box that during return shipment it bounced around causing the cocking handle to put a ½ inch hole in the side of the box.[:'(] Fortunately, no real damage was caused. Sheez, just a couple of wadded up old pieces of newpaper. a little TLC, and this would have never happened.

I clearly described in a letter sent with the ML (and during a follow-up phone call) what the problem was and even included a detailed illustration.

I realized everyone has a bad day on the job and I’m attempting to get a 10 year old $75 gun repaired, but the last thing I want to do is send the ML back to TC and take my chances on a “newbe” gunsmith working on it.

Again, can anyone recommend a competent gunsmith in TC’s warranty dept? Thanks in advance guys…:)

From personal experience, my advice is tonoteven bother with rank & file repair folks at TC anymore...deal directly with the Service Manager, Brandon Gullison.

If they deny a repair or replacement, then you somehow went outside your warranty coverage. It's hard for us to say you are right& T/C iswrong without details. Nowhere in your post do you "backup" your statement.

We need details - details -details. Prove to me that T/C acted improperly& you were denied a vaild claim????? I need to hear your story - in the same words that you sent T/C in your problems-explanation envelope/letter.

RE: TC Warranty Dept…who to ask for ???

777 - I guess I never considered the fact that my claim was denied since the repair work was deemed outside of the original warranty. Thanks for sharing this perspective...you may be correct. If so, TC should have phoned me or indicated such within the return receipt and not merely returned the ML "as is."

I will be calling Brandon Gullison this afternoon to verify what work was performed, what wasn't, and why.

By the way, I was requesting that a new hole be drilled and tapped for the front iron site since the original hole was either drilled off center or not straight. The rifle consistently shoots nice groups to the right (about 3 inches at 50 yards) of the bulls eye despite trying number loads and moving the rear site to the maximum left position.

I'll keep you posted.;)

RE: TC Warranty Dept…who to ask for ???

John

They may tell you in their reply that the requested hole is too close to the now-drilled hole (or) .. don't laugh please... they may tell you to see a optometrist because their tools to troubleshoot this inidicate the purchaser's (you) meaurements were incorrect. [:o]

When/if it fails for you again, there are other front sights that will correct your problem. Changing sights will not void your warranty with other unrelated parts on your rifle.... ie... lock, trigger... etc.

RE: TC Warranty Dept…who to ask for ???

Denial of a claim (if that is what happened) is NO excuse for shoody packaging and poor communication ( obviously ignoring the letter and illustration).

Your situation is the mirror of mine - only with a new th laminated ss Omega. Cleaned (scrubbed by me before sending), test fired (with results I have not come close to duplicating), detailed inclosed letter obviously ignored and not responded to, and poor packaging resulting in stock damage.

You are not alone in wondering about the claims of TC service. I have put off addressing this with them because of time restraints and wanting to be sure I would remain civil. Thanks for posting - day off tomorrow and mine will be a priority.

i sent a barrel in to get blued, they did nice job on it ,only they did not ship parts back. 2 weeks later, they found parts and sent them back.it was packaged good. i had beretta shotgun i sent in because of defect. i wrapped it in plastic wrap. guess what beratta did, they took a razor blade and scratched my barrel and then sent it back to me. i had to pay 40 dollars shipping.so, all companies suck now. you should see service you get from browning, now there is a company that sucks.

RE: TC Warranty Dept…who to ask for ???

Steve et al, I wanted to give you an update on how I made out with TC…although it’s not over yet. First, the fellow I spoke to was Brian Thing (603-332-2333, ext 530). From what I understand, he is the Senior Service Mgr who oversees the Repairs Dept, amongst other areas. Brandon Gullison, who was recommended by another poster here, is actually in charge of sales, which explains why he didn’t return the message I left for him. :(

Anyway, I explained to Brian what happened and how my ML was merely returned without the work being performed and without any explanation. Also, mentioned how the gun was almost damaged during the return shipping due to poor packaging.[:@]

Long story short, he kindly requested that I return the ML to the TC Repair Dept, but this time send it directly to his attention and include the postage expense receipt so that I can be reimbursed. He also empathized with me that it shouldn’t have been return shipped in the manner it was.

Lastly, Brian inquired as to which gunsmith’s initials ("RR" in my case) were on Work Form that I received…I have a feeling someone’s gonna git a wippin’ this afternoon at TC. [:o]

Steve, how’d you make out yer Omega? Sorry to hear about your stock damage. They should definitely step up and either fix or replace...that's why guys like you and me pay a premier for their firearms.

FYI...TC's Service Manager was Tim Pancurak for almost 30 years...he retired March 1st...dealt with Timmany time over the past 15 years. Duringa farewell phone call to Tim in late February, he told me thatBrandon Gullison would be taking his place...if what you say is true about him being a "sales manager" itmust have been a temporarystand in role...just wanted to clarify thatI gave you the name Brandon Gullison in good faith...TC should make things right for you...

RE: TC Warranty Dept…who to ask for ???

FWIW...

I just sent in a Renegade stock with lock& trigger attached that were giving me fits. First... it was taking two shots to fire the cap -- then it got more & more slop in the trigger -- then lastly, both the trigger & lock jammed shut.

I am boxing it as I type this& sending it to T/C for repairs and/or replacement. It's possible I need a new lock and trigger. Goes with the territory with buying these thingsat a gun auction. Usually the seller keeps the gun if it's functioning normally. So every time I buy thru auctions, I expect problems with the ML.

I already sold the partially rusted barrel - after a few hours of retuning it to a non-rusted, non rifling-cloggedstate.

I will re-open this thread when T/C returns the stock assembly to me. I'll report on what they did & if it cost me anything.

I have also dealt with Tim for many years. Great fellow and really know's T/C products. I wish him well.

I've dealt with T/C since 1970 and never had a problem. That said, I have hadan instancewhere things did get a little flubbed up.

One time: I got a 50 caliber Hawken barrel returned when the bluing was abnormally wearing on my 54 Renegade barrel and I sent it in for re-bluing (after eight years). T/C paid for the 50 cal return and sent me my barrel re-blued next day air which actually took three days to process. Fortunately I have many ML's so was not left with nothing to carry afield otherwise I might have beenmore dissapointed.

Overall of anymanufacturer, Thompson/Center is by far the very best in service in my experiences and I am confident they will get your issues squared away. I am surprised that they returned a rifle that way=poorly packaged.

For that matter, I have rarely had issues with T/C weaponry.

Please post the outcomes of these issues.

RE: TC Warranty Dept…who to ask for ???

Good news! :D Just wanted to share how my TC Firehawk warranty problem was resolved after sending it back to TC for the second time. (Recall that the first time I sent it in, they merely returned the firearm without doing anything to it [:@])

In summary, not only did they fix the original problem that I sent it back for (front sight alignment off), but they due to the age of the firearm they replaced without request or charge:
- the bolt (so now I can use 209 primers if I want)
- the bolt spring
- the rear sight
- the front sight
- the nipple
- they even reblued some parts of the barrel that were worn with age

Again, all work performed without charge. :D:D Just a tip, you may want to speak to Brian Thing (603-332-2333, ext.530) before sending any firearm back...he may request that you send it to his attention at TC.

Can't wait to get out with it, but have no ambition to shoot when it's +90 degrees.[&o]

Roundball - I appreciate you recommending Brandon Gullison and only interpretted your doing so as a good faith gesture. Thank you.;)

As they say: All's well that ends well.

Good news indeed John!

Now get out& make some smoke.... even in 90-degree weather. T/C Inc does the same with me... even fixes otherstuff I didn't thinkwere problems.

We are nearing a record temp here today. It should hit 100 today - with an heat/humidity index of 110+.

As I have posted here before, I have an Omega with problems that I sent in and it came back worse(shipping damage).
Have been too busyto deal it. Had time yesterday to call - got customer service and explined I had issues I wish to discuss with someone.
She forwarded me to a supervisor's voicemail. I left a detailed message of the history explaining my call and asked that he contact me to discuss this.

This message was left 7/31/06 at 1:35 pm.
It is now 8/1/06 at 5:35 pm.
No call.

i sent in a barrel to be blued. they said 65 dollars, not free. i got barrel back and parts where rod is held was missing. i called. they said they shipped it, i said,NO YOU DID NOT.then they said, well, its lost and we dont have replacement for that barrel. 2 weeks later rod showed up and note they are not charging me for bluing. they do and were going to charge me for bluing.check with them before you send gun in to see if there is charge.just because some have got it free does not mean you will.

a hot blue job is worth over 100$ last i checked. so 65$ would be a steal. maybe times are changing with the management but i hope not.

Goodness, seems everyone is happy to have to pay shipping for problems that never should have been. The best customer service is the one you never have to call. Wow, I have had to call TC myself, never had to call knight however.

Had to call Knight. Didn't cost me a dime though. They had ups pick it up at my house. I have never had that kind of service before or since.:D
