I've read a couple people post results of their new Pro Hunters, and they are very pleased with the overall results and accuracy and the rifle. In fact one person that bought one I note now has his Savage muzzleloader for sale. They also claim the stock with the recoil built in is working real good even with 150 grains of powder..

As far as funcion it is the same as any Encore except it has the new and way cool breech plug that comes out with like a half turn like the ones on 12" guns on battleships. A pretty cool design.
I am glad you got the Omega straightned out it stinks spending a bunch of money on a rifle and have it not perform the way you want. |
RE: T/C ONCORE PRO HUNTER, ANYGOOD?
I work the firearms counter at the Gander Mtn here in Indy...And we've had several customers itching to get their hands on these.
I called TCA last week... The only one currently available is the Stainless w/ the black synthetic stock. The thumbhole models are still a ways off... she said that we should see them in time for hunting season (Nov)... but she couldn't give me a more definitive awnser than that. The Pro Hunter has a few nice features... but I don't know if I'd sell my regular Encore to buy one... The cost is getting pretty up there... $850+... and $950ish for the camo thumbhole model. But if you have to be the 1st to have to have the latest and greatest.. then I suggest that you get on a waiting list somewhere.. as it's almost impossible to get the SS syth one now... let alone w/ the TH models become available. |

Check with Whittaker's http://www.whittakerguns.com/default.htm.
Like Cayugad mentioned, I've seen those same new owner reports and they are very favorable. |
RE: T/C ONCORE PRO HUNTER, ANYGOOD?
I hope the prohunter doesn't prompt T/C to make a cheap Encore for Walmart like they did with the Omega. Iam glad I got a Z% but would hate to see an Encore version.

RE: T/C ONCORE PRO HUNTER, ANYGOOD?
I got my Red Head Catalog today, and they have a nice spread of the Pro Hunter they are offereing. The price of it is not something that would interest me a lot, but you get what you pay for. I have enough rifles, and the last one, my White Rifle, really has satisfied my rifle urge. It is a nice looking rifle though with some nice features.

Pittsburghunter, I guess I am stuck with mine,I wanted a stainless with a laminated stock, but I am afraid to trade this one off it shoots almost every thing into good groups and tears ragged holes with any of the shock waves a new one like I want might not even come close to that. Lee
